    • It would be cool to do Paris though anyway, make a long weekend of it as well as a poly meet. I have never had the chance to look around the place properly, and it is hardly long distance nowadays

Be careful. As I said earlier in this thread, the cost of the Chunnel increases extortianately the longer apart your departure and arrival is.

If you want it at ~£40 you have to leave Friday after noon and be back before 3pm on Saturday. Or leave Saturday after noon and be back by 3pm Sunday. Else its £180 or so.

The super save plan is thus: Leave for the 1200pm shuttle on Saturday, get to Paris mid afternoon, have the stay over and be back on the road home for around 1430pm Shuttle on Sunday.

The more expensive plan requires 4 people in the car as its around each £45/each compared to £90/each when costs split, which isn't anywhere near as bad as if it just 2 people. i.e If its just you and me, Rich, in the car I need convinving to pay an extra £70. I'd rather go for the supersaver plan or take the Eurostar from Ashford (although I need to look into the prices there. ).

Finally, can your car seat five?

Either way, Spiffor, I think you've got two definites coming your way on the 14th August.

              • My car can seat 5, yes
...and this is why we need to confirm other people coming along to. But I didn't realise the visit had to be so short

                • I can afford the long stay, I just want to spread the cost as much as possible.

                  • Well if no one else comes along the Eurostar may be the best option...

                    • I wouldn't mind staying a little longer either.

I won't travel through London to go to Paris though , anyway with a little bit of luck, my travel expenses are nill.

                            • I can get first-class return on Eurostar for £50.

I would probably be able to host one or two people for a longer stay.
