  • Had it been 14th of May or June I could have been there. Too bad.

        • So come on, what is the plan? What is up with the ferry, I mean, it hardly takes that long to get across on the thing...

          • I have 14th of August free Will either be celebrating getting in to Provost's old college, or trying to convince myself that Warwick is still a damn good uni (results are 12th August).

            Here's hoping

You're applying to Univ?! You're not worthy

Actually, I've got an offer. Just need the grades. I got in to Trinity last year, needing AAA, and got AABB. This year they want AAAA, so need relatively decent marks in the two retakes. All doable though

And them having 1 place and 7 straight A applicants for the course, while I wouldn't say I'm worthy, I don't think I'll disappoint them. The first year exams are easy enough that I can already do them (mostly) (I took them last year, informally, after chatting with a fellow at Exeter). However years 2 and 3 are much work and very interesting

                    • I've done ferry trips before when I was younger - compared to the Shuttle they seem really slow
That's actually good, since you can get drunk on the sea, which is a much better feeling than being drunk under the sea. Of course someone has to drive afterwards, so one may not enjoy it much.

                      • The date is too far away from now, I don't know if I will be available the 14th of August though I know for sure a Live Role Playing Game with some friends is scheduled near this date (I think it is around the 18th). I will keep an eye on this thread and post here as soon as I know the date.

                        • 4 A's?! Yikes, that is quite some offer...mine was only 3 of them When I went it was nothing like that. Just shows how easy A-levels are nowadays

                          • Its awful. It devalues my five A-levels.

Nope, most people still do 3, the typical Oxbridge offer is still AAB or AAA, and no uni asks for 4 A levels. The only reason my offer is that is because it's retakes, and they have to aks for 1 higher, because you can pick and choose modules to retake. It was always that way, if you retook an A level, they'd ask for more.

Your 5 A levels is still impressive, Dauphin, since most people do 3, and the brightest do 4, as it was before. They still timetable (at my school) the same amount of lesson time per week as they did for the old A levels. The only people who do more are those with prior knowledge of a subject or who are gluttons for punishment. I qualified on both counts

4 is bad, but they were worried about why I fluncked last year, so I presume their train of thought was that they liked me, and wanted to give me an offer, but wanted to make sure that I could hack exams, and so gave me a hard offer to make sure. Seems sensible.

                              • I did my first maths A-level at the same time as my GCSEs, so technically I got my maths A-level before my Maths GSCE. I took four A-levels in the sixth form and as the fourth was a second maths A-Level it didn't need more timetabling to do.
