At least his kid has a future, something your communist philosophy lacks.
“I give you a new commandment, that you love one another. Just as I have loved you, you also should love one another. By this everyone will know that you are my disciples, if you have love for one another.”

I mean, look at Aggies response to LOTM in a thread of mine:

I admit, singling out the Jews was bad. We should have nailed all your religious asses.

You said it in a bad way, but your point is valid. Why should religion have any role in politics? No reason.
Why should the populace (prompted by the media) care about the religion of any candidate?I never know their names, But i smile just the same

As much as I agree with the spirit in which this was posted...
Religion, in Marx's over-quoted words, is more than just the "opium of the masses." It is also the "sigh of the oppressed" and the "heart of a heartless world."
Unless and until we solve the problems of class society, religion will be around because it fills a definite, necessary roll. It is, ultimately, the product of despair and of hope against despairing.
A much better position, IMO, is to side with religion when it represents the desparate hope of the oppressed, and against it when it is used by the powers-that-be as drug to control the masses.
Of course, that makes for a less fun OT thread.~ If Tehben spits eggs at you, jump on them and throw them back. ~ Eventis ~ Eventis Dungeons & Dragons 6th Age Campaign: Chapter 1, Chapter 2, Chapter 3, Chapter 4: (Unspeakable) Horror on the Hill ~

I myself can't see much good coming from religion.
But I've had enough. The popularity of Mel Gibson's Jesus porn flick and the sanctimonious crap we have to put up with from clearly insane individuals (like Jerry Falwell) is too much, as is the deference shown to these lunatics by the media.
How dare people be allowed to view whatever movies they like! Clearly, we need the CPA to censor what media we view. (On a side note, to televangelists)
