I guess I'm a lucky one. My parents earn a hell of a lot less than £60,000 a year (actually, less than £30,000 atm), and have still offered to match my student loan (£3000 per year) so it looks like I'll have enough money without having to get extra loans on top of that. Not that I'm bitter that they've given my brother £8000 more than me at all Oh well, he was always the favourite son

I'll get a little extra loan and full fees I think. Not sure. Last year I'd have got much more, since my brother was also at uni, and parental contribution is then split. But he'll be doing a PhD next year, so won't count for support.

Hmm, what's the joke?
Is God willing to prevent evil, but not able? Then he is not omnipotent. Is he able, but not willing? Then he is malevolent. Is he both able and willing? Then whence cometh evil? Is he neither able nor willing?
Then why call him God? - Epicurus
But what's the motivation? I'm not sure I see it. A public complaint about tuition fees? Hey rising costs are the part of having such a large socialized goverment. Vote conservative next time ***** (although in the U.S. conservatives are spending more than liberals now )
Diss: The UK conservatives want to have free tuition, the Labour party don't. It's a middle class tax, which is why the Tories are against it.
And the motivation is because almost every Student's Union, the Conservative Party and the majority of students are against paying fees for higher education. It makes a good publicity stunt to highlight the lack of funding, if even rich people need to do this to afford it. It's a load of crap, but then, maybe her parents have decided not to pay. Just because they're rich doesnm't mean they'll share it. If they said they won't pay, maybe she is forced into things like this to finance it.

They are not highly regarded, they DO have massive readerships, so from a publicity standpoint she's done pretty well
And of those many readers, how many go to college, are likely to feel passionately about the value of education, and are not too lazy to write angry letters or boycott? Raising issues about higher learning in the tabloids is like promoting marital fidelity in a whorehouse.
This is actually pretty funny in a sick, ironic sort of way, seeing as she wants to study to become a sex therapist. She can take herself as a patient for three months, call the experience her internship, maybe skip college altogether.
Or maybe not, but she did say a lot beforehand about how Sex Was No Big Deal, Society Is Just Puritanical. Much like Elmer Fudd always says, "Oooh, I'll get dat wascally wabbit dis time," before sticking his gun down Bug's burrow, only to have the end poke out of the ground behind him and shoot him in the rear.
Uh, I was under the impression that sex therapists just help couples reachieve intimacy. Even if people refused to acknowledge a lesbian's ability to judge a straight relationship, she could still counsel other gays.

She also works as part-time as a waitress.'
60 grand a year
that is Euros so It is more like 80 to 90 thousand dollars a year, a fairly respectable sum. How much of it is taxed though?

I'm sure they help with a wide range of issues.
Some couples may go because their partners aren't satisyfing them. Perhaps a woman won't give her partner fellatio. WTF does she know about fellatio. Or say the man has impotence problems that are psychological and not physical, how can she help with that? How many sexual positions can she possibly know?

Many. The Sun dictates policy opinions to many people. Most people feel passionate about some policy, from speed cameras to education.

Again, probably many.

Very true, but raising awareness, publicity, getting people to see your point, is all very usual in tabloids. The Sun has campaigns for and against certain issues. It supports political parties, it is very influencial when it comes to politics. The News of the World less so, it's more a celebrity thing, but it still has a hgih readership, so reaches many voters.

It all may turn into quite a learning experience for her actually. The chances are, given her actions, that she saw it as not a big deal, but a lot of money. Especially given the publicity and the way she went about it. By the sounds of things, her views have changed somewhat. I do feel sorry for her, that she feels bad for it. She didn't expect to feel like this before she did it. However bad she feels, I'd like to know if she regrets it. Was it worth the £8400 to her?
