It was the worst ‘snow job’ I have ever seen giving total benefit of the doubt to the Government and none at all to reporters.

Strangely the findings were met with utter ridicule by the vast majority of the electorate (we have strong affection for Auntie Beeb here) and Lord Hutton is now a bitter man running around moaning to anyone that listens how upset he is at how poorly his report was received and how angry he is of being accused of being a Government suck-up. Well if the cap fits Lord Hutton…

More detail than you wanted there!
Heh, thanks for all that, but it wasn't what I was referring to. The bias I saw was regarding some accusation against Bush that was reported as gospel truth on the BBC in Paris while I was there, and then when I got back to the US more information had surfaced proving it was all false. I wish I could remember exactly what it was all about, but I can't.

        • Please go fishing - because it does not sound very BBC like to me.

          I'll have a trawl myself.

The head of the AFP, a conservative chap never given to hyperbole, semi-revised his statement. Ah well. What matter the truth when an election is to be fought?

It would have been towards the end of May in 2002.

I've never heard of them let alone heard them. But Tamerlin's musical taste seems to indicate he's what we call a head banger. Which explains a lot.

                  • Lagaan Party

After an "Indian" party two weeks ago that was a real success (and yes, we were all disguised as Indians) we decided to make a Lagaan night tonight at my home and we watch the Indian musical comedy from Bollywood of the same name.

The movie is 3:40 hours long and takes place in India under British rule. The evil character is, of course, a British officer that wants to increase the Lagaan (a tax taken on the grain produced by the local peasants) but as no rain has fell since two years the peasants know they won't be able to pay the famous Lagaan. After the peasants dared protest against the tax, the British officer proposes the peasants to suppress the Lagaan for three years if they can win a Cricket game played over three days against the British garrison... but if the peasants loose the Lagaan will be tripled for three years.

Great colourfull movie with delighfull and exotic songs... and a great introduction to the intricacies of Cricket.

                    • Mmm. Tomorrow night I have another seven people over for dinner.

                      Menu:

With drinks: Palline di Melanzana e Mozzarella

                      Entree: Panzanella

                      Main: Pollo Arrosto

Pud: Torta di cioccolato, mandorle e Strega

And not a Bollywood movie in sight!
