I went to the theatre tonight to see a play written by a good friend. It had rave reviews. It cost $61 a ticket. The play was crap. To think that I could've saved $61 and sat here and read this crap instead.

    • Yes indeed Tamerlin – ST2: Heroes of the Federation should hit cinemas this year sometime…

As you've demonstrated post after post after post for the last couple of years.
Why what do you mean sir? :feigned innocence:

I trust you rate the writing of Garfield then?

Yes, that's the problem with permitting illegal play in the domestic competition. Come a Test match and a ref who knows the rules and you get penalised.
Quite amusing this - given S12 and it’s consistent ignoring of the law book. And clearly that’s where SH refs are going wrong – they are reading some silly rule book when they should be studying the laws of the game?

You and Tamerlin, what a combo of appalling taste.
I simply have broad tastes. One man’s meat and all that…?

You mean the NH Tri-Nations? England -v- France -v- Ireland? With the other three teams there to - well, what are they there for?
To give me ‘tour’ destinations – and to provide relaxing games to watch with a barrel of bitter to hand.

To be honest the England side that turns out in Italy next weekend (nearly went – but plumped for France this year instead) will have little relation to the RWC winning side. It may be a younger and more exciting line up in actual fact. : copyright flying pork predictions:

I thought his line deliciously provocative myself.

So this friend doesn’t haunt Apolyton then? Or did you mean the acting was crap?

First post Deano era game tonight - away at Sale. Not an easy game at the best of times - so a good test for where the boys heads have moved to this week.

Followed shortly afterwards, hopefully, by a tsunami.

I trust you rate the writing of Garfield then?
Actually, I thought it was good stuff in the early days. Then, once it became popular and syndicated all over the place, it became production line. He hasn't drawn the strips for a long time, that's left to contract artists.

I've asked you to keep SF out of this thread!

Mmmm. NH Tri Nations, SH Tri Nations. There's little difference.

To be honest the England side that turns out in Italy next weekend (nearly went – but plumped for France this year instead) will have little relation to the RWC winning side. It may be a younger and more exciting line up in actual fact. : copyright flying pork predictions:
I look forward to seeing England taking on better oppo than Italy with half your team retired and the other half out with his shoulder injury.

I thought his line deliciously provocative myself.
So where's his retaliatory jibe? I expect he's off in Parma again replenishing his stock of pilfered smallgoods.

So this friend doesn’t haunt Apolyton then? Or did you mean the acting was crap?
No, she doesn't understand sport. She's one of the country's most awarded playwrights. Unfortunately, this one has some real plotting, structural and conceptual problems. Some terrific performances that don't save it, unfortunately. I re-read some of the rave reviews last night. They glossed over the play's problems.

First post Deano era game tonight - away at Sale. Not an easy game at the best of times - so a good test for where the boys heads have moved to this week.
Rest assured, if they lose, I shall draw attention to it in my usual fashion.

To be even more honest finbar's homepage hosts a younger and even more exciting lineup.
          Probably play better rugby too.

What's really depressing is all the SF talk without mentioning anything that's actually good.
I rather pride myself on being a bit of an aficionado and the only thing that seems to come up repeatedly is Starship Troopers (great novel, even if a little political for its time) which was eminently passable as a movie.
Robocop doesn't even bear mentioning. :barf:

You are wrong, there is a BIG difference... in one of the tournament they are playing Rugby.

So where's his retaliatory jibe? I expect he's off in Parma again replenishing his stock of pilfered smallgoods.
No, I was playing a Samurai in a role playing game session somewhere in medieval Japan.

Robocop is the kind of SF movie I don't like at all.

Quite right. And it's about time you NH nongs followed suit.

So you are playing your U-14's.
                      Big Deal.
So you will win a close one.

                          NH Tri-Nations?
                          I don't think so.
Our game breakers are injured in Murphy, Hickie, O'Driscoll.
We couldn't even beat you when we were dominant.
We don't have the strength in depth to beat the big boys when our best are out.
The problem is not so much in the forwards, I seriously think we will cope with the loss of Wood , as our replacements are test quality at set piece.l
It is our ability to break a line that worries me.
The big game for us will be Wales. It will tell whether our backup can cope with their flair with the ball.
If we beat England or France it will either be 1) Fluke or 2) Tactical (Raining in France, Ref. ignores the offside law while we pressure the half-backs)

                            Must've missed those. Surprise surprise.
to the former but I've never even heard of the latter. Is it any good?

                            • Finbar, you should try reading Stanislaw Lem's "His Master's Voice".
Banks is good, but someone who doesn't like SF will hate it on grounds it looks like SF. Lem's SF is sometimes despised by SF fans because it doesn't look like space operas.

As for the 6 nations (sorry to be on topic), don't underestimate Wales this year. They showed good things in the World Cup and could beat any one of the big teams on a given match. But maybe I'm just dreaming.
