I didn't say I didn't like it! It's just not in my top 10! Or even, probably, top 15!

This thread becomes more and more surreal.
I had to do " Cat on a hot tin roof", "Catch-22", "King Lear" and the poetry of "W.B Yeats" as my A- Level exam texts.
      Ummmmm......................
The film is a decent reproduction of the play and was well cast.
The play was, well, a thing that I refuse to ever read again.

Read it for two years and you would hate it.
        I, personally, hate it.
Funnily I love "Catch-22" as a book and "King Lear" yet I hate the adaptations even more because of that.

        • Yes, but "Catch 22" is one of those virtually unadaptable works better left where it works best. Brave attempt, though.

My nomination for worst ever adaptation? "Bonfire of the Vanities". Great but flawed book murdered by an ignorant studio head and a director who didn't really want to do it anyway.

            Oh, I totally agree.
Good film, if you have never read the novel.
It's just that if you have read the novel you hate the movie. For the reason you said.
"Cat" I hate as a play, whereas, as a film I think it is okay.
For the reason that, as a play, I thought it flawed, yet it was easy to adapt to film.

No, it's only the cruising speed of the thread.

In terms of content. Yep. Even I kinda see the odd trail as a point flies past.
It has had some bizarre parallels to my life outside of this thread recently though.
From my own celibacy, to my A-Levels, to cooking, to reading about Campo's sponsership of Mark Webber about 10 minutes before reading about Queenbeyan, etc.
I guess that this happens to everone at some stage.
All it needs now is for someone to talk about Matt Dawson and his flogging with a spikey cactus, and it would be too much.

                        • I'm just waiting for somebody to come up with something like ...

In other news those utter Northern Hemispherean b******s are at it again!

The coaches of the Six Nations teams may be just over a week away from combat but on Wednesday they were united in declaring their northern hemisphere championship the only tournament worth winning apart from the World Cup.

                          • I really love Science Fiction though I really hate the Star Wars trend..
Well the last two movies in that series bored me to tears. But then I was twenty years older than his target audience I guess.

I am more into the Fantasy end of the spectrum than Sci Fi – my preference for reading matter though would be Raymond E Feist, Robert Jordan, Terry Goodkind, Janny Wurts…though of course I have read some of the Sci-Fi classics such as the Foundation trilogy and the BBC Dr Who range.

To spare me some money and some time I have seen the three movies, including the extended versions of the two first episodes, the same day. I had only seen the "short" version of the first episode before this day.
Good grief you must have some stamina! But Cat on a hot tin roof Tamerlin?

If you have not yet seen "Lost in Translation", pick the nearest movie theater and run for it.
I rarely go to cinemas – full of the great unwashed don’t you know…

Except when contracts are in place. And paying out a contract is only an option when all parties agree to same.
Hardly worth the paper they are written on in sport surely Finbar? Witness his summary dismissal from the top job. If he hasn’t negotiated a parachute clause innthe golden handcuffs they gave him I’d be very surprised. Plus it needs to be recognised that helming Tigers is a bigger job in world rugby than running the NPC Waikato side and being the NZRFU ‘emergency spare’.

If you look at soccer here as an example of sporting contracts we have players who miss drugs tests and get banned for eight months who still draw their salary every week thanks to their contracts…I would estimate the player in question could earn over 2 million pounds whilst banned from playing – nice work if you can get it!

I suspect Plank wasn't the only one at odds with Nucifora.
I have followed some of the verbal exchanges twixt Plank and Nucifora. All I can say is it seems Nucifora is a worthy successor to Eddie in the mouth department if not in coaching ability.

That is not bound, and that's what Eales pointed out.
That decision is down to the referee not to ex-Wallabies (however illustrious) – and it’s perfectly permissable in most European rugby. It’s not our fault the SH doesn’t understand forward play now is it?

Only Paddy O’Brien gave us problems with it and that seemed to be because forward play mystifies the old boy.

Mmmm. As in your players taking a casual stroll around to the wrong side of the ruck to impede the defence.
And your players laying over the ball on the wrong side of a ruck so that some greenhorn SH ref will penalise the rucking him out - rather than the actual offence of him killing ball?

We could trade these all day – but remember I consider the Wallabies the most accomplished ‘Professional’ side in the world.

Of course it's revisionist bull. They're now inventing on the run. And for Blair to admit - or claim - that he didn't know what the 45 minutes referred to?
Yes it’s rather rich isn’t it? I’m waiting for him to start wearing the wings and halo in public myself.

I wasn’t hungry when I saw the tomato yesterday – but I sure could eat it now!

In horseracing parlance - Havak: by Alastair Campbell out of Geoff Hoon.
                            Hey that stung!!!

All I was struggling for was that the Parisians came charged up for a fight – isn’t it just a tiny bit sissy of them to then moan because they got one?

At least they are totally screwed in the next round – they will never win in Munster.

I suppose I could if I lobotomised myself first.

Be warned ST2 is on the way and he has apparently written the screenplay again…

Oh and may I say in closing "Its all ravagon's fault. This sort of thing never happened when Caligastia opened the threads".

And the six nations is the only tournament in the world worth winning after the world cup.

                              If you look at soccer...

You could have written Rugby instead of forward play...

Yes, that's the problem with permitting illegal play in the domestic competition. Come a Test match and a ref who knows the rules and you get penalised.

Rest assured, there's absolutely no way its release will trouble me.

You mean the NH Tri-Nations? England -v- France -v- Ireland? With the other three teams there to - well, what are they there for?
