      • The sister of my classmate who died in Somalia is making a big play for me. And she is way more a real person than anybody I've dated in a while. So I may not need a Filapina. But still fun to party, there...

              I really can't tell what I'll be up to by time it's September but otherwise it sounds like a cool idea.

Was told that the problems would be 50/50 in the market implimentation and technology, but the fluffhead market types have totally underestimated the technical hurdles, so I am dragged kicking and screaming back into technical arena, like Don Corleone (ok...I like it too.)

                Am enjoying things and am well taken care of and like people that I work with. It is kind of a resting spot though and a step back. 100K income instead of 250K. Less stress though. Ironic thing is that I may be back on the street since big D is doing layoffs and my project may end soon because technical hurdles too big to overcome economically. And I am sort of a square peg in a circle place. But we'll see.
                BU = business unit?

                You seem one of the few consultants who kicks some realism into schemes instead of the opposite. think you should go for a management function at some down to earth nuts&bolts corp.

                  I've only recently started reading 'Barbarians at the Gate' I bought last time. I love buying books, but I'm too lazy to start reading them, and too impatient to finish them as well.

                  Don't you have your place in Atlanta anymore?

                      Somali women can be very hot from what I understand. Good for you GP, for seeing the potential of women from other countries, regions. It would be truly GREAT to party with you in the Philippines. Hope you can make the time...and don't count out those Filipinas.

                      "I really can't tell what I'll be up to by time it's September but otherwise it sounds like a cool idea." The more the cooler Colon, hope you can make it.

                      I'm going to start a thread or two on the trip when it gets closer to September, to finalize travel plans and since everyone is coming from all over the place, to organize meeting people as they arrive into Cebu. (not Manila). However Dolores and I will be there for 20 months ( You guys can stay as long as you want) so if September isn't good, call us and we'll have you met anytime. That said, the main Poly bunch will be there in September, for fiesta. Also, a few of us will be helping some deaf / speach impared ppl over there, so if you want you can join in that though it's not necessary by any means. Anyway, here's our # over there...011(ATT) 63 (country code) 38-2382-639.

                      The only expensive thing about the Phils is calling there...$3 to $4 a minute, so get a calling card or an international plan before you start.

                      This could be alot of fun. Man, I can't wait to get home again.

                      • Colon, it's 5 bedrooms, 2 baths. We could temporarily split the master br into 2 to make 6 brs. If we did that, then we would have 3 aircon brs. Zkribbler has one, we have another, and a couple who are joining us have the one we split from our br. Directly across the street we have friends who have a nice house and who have volunteered a couple of brs if we need them. Finally, at the Garden Cafe (the place where the deaf/ speach impared ppl work) they have 2 aircon rooms w/ bathrooms that go for $10 a night, and are nice, if someone needs aircon and is willing to pay. The GC is a couple blocks from the house.

                        All the rooms have fans.

                          1. I am still trying to figure out what I should do...and I need to figure it out soon. I'm not getting any younger. Time to stop playing around. Although all the turns and twists to make for interesting life experience.

                          2. I was always torn with the aspect of bull****. I trust my intuitions from nuclear submarine training about asking the right questions and pushing for insight. I think there must be value in this, but at McK, they sold some A LOT of **** because of their high cost (which drives more guruish stuff and drives the need to be "new" versus teaching and instilling conv wisdom to idiots who don't want to follow it.) I probably should have gone to Booz Allen which has more of a fact-based culture. Or just stayed out of the racket.

                          3. I have not done any leadership (other than facilitating teams and teaching children to ski) since the Navy/1993. It is one of my weak spots.

                          ----------------

                          Appreciate your thoughts and if you figure out the spot for me, let me know...
