dans, you'll be fine. iirc, you're in your 30s or so. meaning that social security, although it won't really be around for all of your retirement age... you'll actually see it.
We will all be fine, once we raise the retirement age several years. I have a life expectancy about 12 years more than my dad, but only have to work about 2.5 years longer than him to start collecting social security. This isn't quite right.

Anyway, if you're interested, I can go into excruciating detail on this. Suffice to say, we will not have a population crunch, like these other countries are on track to do.
I came upon a barroom full of bad Salon pictures in which men with hats on the backs of their heads were wolfing food from a counter. It was the institution of the "free lunch" I had struck. You paid for a drink and got as much as you wanted to eat. For something less than a rupee a day a man can feed himself sumptuously in San Francisco, even though he be a bankrupt. Remember this if ever you are stranded in these parts. ~ Rudyard Kipling, 1891

Well, I don't expect anything less than having to fully pay my own retirement - INCLUDING health.

That prospect is still not enough to find socialism palatable. This insolvent social security thing we keep hearing about in the US is a serious problem. I would rather give up a little bit now and save it for later.

It's the proper thing to do. Only a couple years for my generation would do wonders for solvency. But anyway, this isn't a thread about American social security!

Unless we take action, those lovely Italian women will be an endangered species. Save the Italian women!

who is that lovely italian woman?

in any case, perhaps pm me the numbers? it certainly doesn't seem like they're going to raise the ss age, meaning that we will be shafted.

there are lots of things that could be done to avoid leaving my generation holding the bill, but it doesn't look like any politician out there now has the balls to do those sensible things. and i'm well aware that other countries are in a worse condition. i'm just not paying for their old people out of money extracted from my paycheck.

what's her name ? i want it now!

Through my amazing technical skill, I can figure out that it's Monica Belluci.

I thought all you nerds would recognize Monica as she was in The Matrix!! (edit: that's a new tongue... )

Rent "Irreversible" for a real good movie of hers, rather disturbing though.

i heard irreversible had some pretty harsh reviews, though, mostly because it had a few elements that memento already did?

It says that by 2050, Europes population will be about that of 1973 levels.

See folks? that's how it's done! Don't you just wish you had plenty of fanatical religious muslims and jews like we do?

seriously, the "normal" israeli is exemplary in terms of demographics. IIRC, fertility is around 2.5 Of course, we've got those problematic populations I was speaking of earlier, that make our population grow at a staggering 2% per year! that's like 3rd world levels!

                                "Irreversible"

I heard that this movie sucked

I mean the person who told me this is really into sex stuff, not much disturbs him

but he found the 15 minute anal rape scene disturbing enough to (with some other things) ruin the movie for him
