Well, it's morning and I haven't been burned out yet.
There is alot of burned areas near my house with white smoke coming off of it but no open flame or black smoke.
The nearest open flame is 4-5 miles away. Last night the fire crews came and lit back fires to create fire breaks so I didn't sleep much.
Dashi: This area isn't a national forest so it wouldn't have been effected by Bush's tree clearing plan. Scripps used to be a ranch owned by the Scripps-Davis family who sold about 90% of it in the 1970's and the land got subdivided into large estate lots which people built homes upon. The Scripps family bilieved that by planting shade trees the grasses wouldn't dry out as fast and there cattle would be able to graze for more of the year so they planteds thousands of Eucalyptus trees (which grow well in this climate) in the late 19th/early 20th centuries. When the area was developed most of the forest areas got saved as open spaces and are used by horse back riders, mountain bikers, and hikers.
