If USC is #1 in the polls, but doesn't get to participate in the championship game, that would be fun! TCO would have enough controversy to last him for years.

I came upon a barroom full of bad Salon pictures in which men with hats on the backs of their heads were wolfing food from a counter. It was the institution of the "free lunch" I had struck. You paid for a drink and got as much as you wanted to eat. For something less than a rupee a day a man can feed himself sumptuously in San Francisco, even though he be a bankrupt. Remember this if ever you are stranded in these parts. ~ Rudyard Kipling, 1891

ESPN has been talking up USC versus LSU after the OU loss. They have been pretty straight forward about Oklahoma not deserving to have bid after losing to K State. Not that I'm arguing OU deserves to be in the Sugar Bowl. They slacked off their last two games.
They have gotten into the rut of not playing up to their full potentional after being accused of running up the score and I think it kind of bit them in the butt for this last game.

HAHAHAHAHAHA!!!
Where are all you people who just a few weeks ago said OU was 'unbeatable' and laughed at me for saying USC had a chance to beat Oklahoma.
Once again, I get the last laugh
.
And this was GREAT! Shows how ****ed the BCS is. This was the situation the BCS wanted to avoid at all costs. OU will probably end up going to the Sugar Bowl, even though both USC and LSU won their conference while OU did not.
Once again the BCS will be shown to be BS.
Now do you see why the two situations aren't comparable?
Then why did people call for Ron Zook's head at UF when they were 3-3? I mean, it was Spurrier's players. Of course it is comparable! If you think the guy can't recruit that well help him there.
However, he has shown himself to be a good coach. Last year, Nebraska was mediocre, which drives Solich's after 4 years numbers down, but with SOLICH'S players, Nebraska went 9-3! Under your argument, Solich is responsible for a 9-3 year, recruiting and coaching wise.
Hmmm... how could be solve this puzzle...
perhaps some sort of "playoff" type system... whatdaya think, Drake?

I said OU looked unbeatable as long as they played the way they were playing. They didn't seem to be putting forth the effort in this game. They were constantly missing catches by being just a little to far behind or letting K State out scramble them for the ball. Not the OU of earlier.Originally posted by Imran Siddiqui

And USC still hasn't beaten Oklahoma.
Although they mentioned playing the Bowls by their traditional methods and then having a title game AFTER all the bowls on ESPN. Might not be a bad alternative since the NCAA wants to keep Division I as the only football system without a playoff.

You can't argue that they don't have a chance to beat OU though.“I give you a new commandment, that you love one another. Just as I have loved you, you also should love one another. By this everyone will know that you are my disciples, if you have love for one another.”

And you can make the argument that K-State beat down Oklahoma and not Oklahoma beating themselves. After all, they did let up 230+ yards to Sproul. That by itself would have killed them.“I give you a new commandment, that you love one another. Just as I have loved you, you also should love one another. PLATO's predictions:
Sugar: LSU vs. Oklahoma
Rose: USC vs. Michigan
Orange: Miami vs, Kansas State
Fiesta: Florida State vs. Texas
Anybody else got any predictions??"I am sick and tired of people who say that if you debate and you disagree with this administration somehow you're not patriotic. My predicts:
Sugar: USC v. Oklahoma
Rose: Michigan v. LSU
Orange: Miami v. Ohio State
Fiesta: Florida State v. Kansas State
I had Texas listed, but I just read something saying NO conference can have more than TWO teams in the BCS bowls. So Texas is out.Last edited by Imran Siddiqui; December 7, 2003, 03:59.“I give you a new commandment, that you love one another. Just as I have loved you, you also should love one another. So this is what the BCS bowls MUST have:
Big XII: Kansas State
Big 10: Michigan (in the Rose Bowl)
Big East: Miami
ACC: Florida State
Pac 10: USC
SEC: LSU
Then two at large teams, but no more than two teams can come from a single conference. Oklahoma is guarenteed to be one at-large. I bet the other will be Ohio State. If not Ohio State, then Tennessee.“I give you a new commandment, that you love one another. Just as I have loved you, you also should love one another. By this everyone will know that you are my disciples, if you have love for one another.”

Just don't see Tenneesee in the mix because of having played Miami already this year. The only hope Tennesse has would be for USC/Oklahoma Sugar bowl. Then I can see a slim chance of:Originally posted by Imran Siddiqui

Tennesse would have to go to eithier the Rose or Fiesta because I can't imagine the Orange Bowl taking anybody over Miami. That would pit TN against eithier Michigan or Kansas State(assuming that Fiesta ends up with KState, which seems logical). The most likely match up here would be Kansas State."I am sick and tired of people who say that if you debate and you disagree with this administration somehow you're not patriotic. How would a playoff solve this? You still have to determine which of the numerous two-loss teams gets a shot at the title and which don't. You just move the decision-making farther down the line. No, I'd much rather keep this system and all the fun that goes with it.
Under your argument, Solich is responsible for a 9-3 year, recruiting and coaching wise.
Yeah, a 9-3 year that saw a 4th quarter meltdown of epic proportions at Missouri and blowouts versus Texas and K-State, including the worst loss at home since before Bob Devaney took over. Solich was responsible for that, so I don't feel at all guilty about letting him go. Nebraska should be doing better.KH FOR OWNER!

At least Pete Carroll, coach of USC, knows what college football is all about...
Carroll acknowledged his disappointment, then explained it away.
"We lost a darn game," he said, standing amid the detritus of a postgame locker room. On Sept. 27, USC lost at California, 34-31, in triple overtime. "If we hadn't lost a game, we'd be already in. We left the door open for some issue. That's why I've been able to handle this. I've felt like that the whole way through. I'm still pissed we lost a game."
The man is exactly right. All these teams ****ed up and let their fate slip out of their hands. Now they should just shut up and find out where the system sends them. If they're lucky, they'll get an unearned shot at the national title. If they aren't, well, they might still get to play in the Rose Bowl. Not that bad a deal, really.KH FOR OWNER!
