ALright, who programed that red line???

(edit: when I wrote that, the red line was staying 100 mile off the coast until it neared Long Island, then took an abrupt left and smacked right into NYC)

Dammit...they're not uploading indiviual pics, they're updating the same one.

I'll have to start saving them as they come, then.

This is starting to look double plus ungood to borrow a phrase from Chegitz.

The last major hurricane through here (Floyd in 1999) ran just along the coast, but still dropped a tree on my then-neighbor's house. And it took most of a week to restore power after some heavy thunderstorms last month.

I though these things were supposed to speed up, lose intensity, and turn right as they moved north.

According to the latest track, I better batten down the hatches, because D.C. is going to be like Venice

We get too much **** here in DC. Snipers, planes falling out of the sky, anthrax, congress, hurricanes, snow storms. Damn it, I picked the wrong spot to move to.

Watching that thing update, I half expect to see the Death Star has cleared the planet flashing on the top of the image any time now...

I wonder what will happen if this thing hits NYC.

It'll get there eventually. It could get kind of messy if it hits Atlantic City, but I don't think it'll do that much damage to NYC.

I do think, however, it'll make an utter mess in D.C. if it barrels up the Potomac. This area hasn't exactly prepared itself for anything in the form of precipitation.

I can imagine seeing cherry trees blowing down the National Mall at 100 mph and lodging themselves somewhere in Maryland

Remember, if you have to evacuate and don't have room for your computer, yank the hard drives.

Looking at the current computer models (my 09-14-03 05:59 EST post), I have to say I really like the orange prediction, which now has the hurricane ricocheting off Pittsburg and shooting straight back to Africa.

                                Stay safe guys.

(or, more likely, run away and be safe)
