  • People are sheep...... and sheep like ice-cream!!!!

I always knew people are sheep, but apparently sheep like ice-cream.

At my school, in the dining hall there is an enormous multi-tap ice-cream(frozen yogurt I guess) machine with another table for toppings on the side.

The ice-cream is free, its good, the machine is ENORMEOUS and very noisy-its impossible to miss it.

For the first few meals I thought it quite odd that no one ever went to the big noisy machine with the enormous "FREE ICE-CREAM" sign on it(with some rules under it about how you must eat it in the dining hall, so you don’t bring back a 20 gallon drum of it to your room).

Finally, on the third day I decided to be brave and eat the mystical ice-cream..... I went over with a cup, filled it up with ice-cream, sat down, and ate it-it was good.

LOW AND BEHOLD: Within minutes of me doing it, LOTS of people come up and begin to get ice-cream. I thought this was odd, but must of been a fluke........

I did the same thing the next day, same results. The same thing the day after.... same results.

One interesting thing to note is that all the "lost puppy female's"(by lost puppy I mean that they can NEVER be alone and must always be on a friends arm-you know the type) commented something along the lines of "oh well I didn’t even know we had ice-cream!" which is a lie-as its impossible to miss it-it's huge, and its right next to the end of the cash register.

It is OBVIOUS people want the ice-cream, as once I go get some, a big line always forms right after-though not ONE person goes before I do.

APPARENTLY everyone in my damn school is too afraid to be seen as "glutinous" or "fat" or some other non-existent rationale/social stigma like that, that they cant simply stand up and go get free ice-cream unless someone paves the way for them.

I found this quite funny and wanted to share it-maybe I should be a psych major instead of computer science lol!

Try this: At a party, start a conversation about a really obscure topic (i.e. Bananas). Leave the conversation and don't say anything more and see how long it takes for someone else to start talking about Bananas... Ppl are sheep...

Aren't people fat enough these days that we really don't need to be giving out free ice cream?

Back in the old days, (when they had secreterial pools) I used to walk by and start to whistle "If I only had a brain" I'd do it again a few minutes later and then wait about 30 minutes. The next time I 'd walk by, a good majority would be doing it then. Something about hearing "if i only had a brain" coming out of the secretary pool always amused me.
It's almost as if all his overconfident, absolutist assertions were spoonfed to him by a trusted website or subreddit. Sheeple

Or, if you use a word that people don't normally use you find others you have said it to start using it more often too...

This has a rather sinister side in the Soviet Union, Stalin would keep people clapping until one person decided to sit down and stop. This way they could identify the independently minded people.

We have a free ice cream machine in our school cafeteria and people use it all the time without any prompting.
