Any deficiencies of NK in comparison to the outside world are simply blamed on the evil, aggressive, imperialist United States of America.

The man is keeping them down. If not for the Dear Leader, they would be lost! Lost, I tell you!

The DPRK population is also conditioned to believe that their situation is better than that of the rest of the world, so they have to have any contrary experience carefully exorcised.

The labour camps ensure everyone is ecstatically happy at all times.
Any views I may express here are personal and certainly do not in any way reflect the views of my employer. Tis the rising of the moon..

Or at least that the ones who aren't happy are out of sight.

I'm just sitting here pondering the use of the word "another" at the beginning of this article.

Oh...and this really needs to be posted here...

This is the record of an actual trip to North Korea by an American Tourist, that occured in 2002. It contains remarkable insights into the strange world that is North Korea, with photos that few westerners have ever seen.

You think the cheerleader story is weird? You ain't seen nothin' yet...

Personal accounts of North Korea visits are quite interesting. For one thing, it seems that all of the people are making the exact same trip...

That makes sense...I mean, how many opportunities have there been? I wouldn't be at all surprised if a number of the visitors to this event provided their own accounts.

I imagine it's probably like how Kruschev thought his visit to the US was staged and that all the places he vicited had been built up before he arrived. He simply could not beleive the US was as productive as it was. North Koreans who go South probably will think they are only seeing staaged areas.

. . . and with a little help from Western liberals, soon Tibet may once again be like the DPRK.
