it would be more accurate to say that there is a big risk he will lose, and its not a risk he feels like taking. So Israel and the US have to make clear that the risk of not acting is as great as the risk of acting.

Ok, according to my knowledge of Sharon, IDF will kill several Hamas and IJ leaders by tommorow noon.
Which begs the question... If we can kill several Hamas/IJ leaderes so quickly, WTF wasnt it done before? Why all the assasinations wave before the hudna that scared the Hamas so much wasnt done before?

                A reuters video.

                Edit :
Also, a baby died from it's wounds in the hospital. So the number is probably 21 now.

The Hudna: from Siro's description is doesn't exactly sound as if Islamic society is as honourable as it would like us to believe.

Why dignify it with that name. To me it's backstabbing, pure and simple.

I really hope that the ceasefire holds, despite the horrible act that was committed. Violence just begets more violence. Look at the improvement in Northern Ireland since people started talking (OK, there are huge differences between Israel and Northern Ireland, but some of the lessons learned there can still apply).

And, no offence to the Israeli posters, but it seems that there is a never-ending supply of high-ranking militants. The way you say that Israel will go after them seems to suggest that previous efforts up until the ceasefire had barely dented the leadership of organizations such as Hamas, yet it seemed to me watching the news that a high level terrorist official was being killed every week.

The truth be told, I didn't see much progress before the road map, and if things go back to the way they were, I can't envision any being made either. But at the same time, Israel cannot afford to let this atrocity go unpunished. If Abbas doesn't start taking action immediately, I don't know what will happen, except it won't be good.

Their aim is to destroy Israel pure and simple, and every concession they'll make will be temporary and tactical.
Discussing with them may provide a temporary truce, but they'll never be satisfied until Israel is disbanded and Israelis are sent to the seas You can't discuss with these people. You have to cut off their financial and moral support, and physically destroy its key members

Complete closure of Judea&Samaria. All Israeli trust-building actions that were supposed to happen in the next days, like removing road blocks, giving work permits, and transferring cities to Pal control are cancelled.

In addition, there is a hot warning about an attack in Tel Aviv.

How about not go to israel? It's safer that way.

No, previous campaigns to kill the main leaders and organizers of terror resulted in a sustained and dramatic decrease in the number of terror attacks. The leasson learned? Yes, Hamas and IJ can get more terror leaders but it takes several years to train in the necissary skills and to gain the confidience of others in the organization.

Kill the leaders and they will lose institutional skills and no how which will take a great deal of time to replace. It's similiar to losing a pilot in WW2. Sure, you can train more but it takes years.

sweet irony. even in these years of war, twice as much people die in car accidents!
