i think people in this thread are confusing small towns with suburbs... small towns and rural areas have always been very conservative... suburbs are much more liberal, being the haven of upper middle class professionals (lawyers et al) but the fact that they got families probably moderated them a bit.
Excuse me? most people in the rural area that I live in are democrats.

      So?

There are conservatives that are not religous.
A lot of Republicans are not racist, but a lot of racists are Republican.

Because the kind of religious people who tend to be conservative also tend to not be humanist (i.e. not care about humanity) and to not actually follow Buddha's and Jesus' Golden Rule.

Fact is, liberals are happier than conservatives.

Besides, being liberal has nothing to do with being against money. It's just that in a liberal society, you can buy more with less.
so by that token conservatives don't care about humanity. interesting.

I thought WWII was when we stopped demonizing the opposing side.

Do you know what Slowwy or MTG would think if I used the statement:

"White Southerners tend to be racist?"

I'm betting they would take that as a prejudiced, over-generalized remark.

if a majority of them were racist u would have a point. they indeed might be offended I dont know. there are a variety of politically incorrect things that carry truth even though they offend ppl.

Because most White Southerners aren't racist, at least these days .

Most religious people though are conservative. The most religious areas in the US are the ones that vote most solidly Republican after all. It doesn't mean all religious people are conservative, but they do tend to be.

well at least they are liberal until they live in the U.S. long enough to develop some sense

I imagine conservatives and their anti immigration policies scare them.

actually i posted about that before, dissident... according to a recent poll, hispanics are more likely to be against abortions and gay rights issues than the american population as a whole... and a majority supports bush and his tax cuts... most have no love for the republican party though...

i think i entitled the thread "Hispanics support Bush and his tax cuts"
