First, the question wasn't confined to Christianity, but any religions.Originally posted by Sava
Well what the **** is any Christian religion without a belief in God or Jesus? Would we just go to church and pray to Barney?
And it was asking which one, "minus ritual/spiritual" aspects, you would find the most agreeable (i.e. the moral and philosophical tenets).
Christianity does require more than just belief in the divinity of Jesus. It also requires a basic abiding by the philosophy that Jesus is believed to have taught.Tutto nel mondo è burla

yeah, but every holiday, tradition, and custom is based upon the belief in God and Jesus (I'm speaking of Orthodox denominations)... and if you don't believe in God or Jesus (because Orthodoxy is more about God because Jesus was the SON OF GOD) then how can you believe in the philosophies taught by the Bible?Originally posted by Boris Godunov

Overall, I'll have to stick with my first answer... none. Personally, I have my own mind and prefer to come up with my own morals and philosophies. Some people have written and said some good things, but not one faith, person, or philosophy can fully agree with my own personal feelings and morals. To us, it is the BEAST.

Hmm. Cthulhuism. How can you go wrong with a deity who can eat all the other deities?

At my old college we had a group called "Campus Crusade for Cthulhu". They had a logo of the Old One himself enveloping the college crest.Originally posted by St Leo

Right. So, pick a non-orthodox denomination. Or a non-Christian religion. That's the point. I don't see why you're being so narrow, except to harp on the same anti-Christian note.Originally posted by Sava

Gee, I think "Do unto others as you would have them do unto you" works pretty well sans theological context. Same for "The meek shall inherit the earth," and any number of Judeo-Christian tenets, such as not killing, not stealing, not lying, not committing adultery, honoring your parents, be kind to people (even strangers), give to the poor, don't be excessively proud, etc. Perhaps the greatest, aside from the golden rule, comes from the NT: "Love one another."and if you don't believe in God or Jesus (because Orthodoxy is more about God because Jesus was the SON OF GOD) then how can you believe in the philosophies taught by the Bible?
There are tons of moral tenets in the Bible that don't require belief in the metaphysical claims to see them as really good ways to live. Same is true for other religions.
Great, but again, that's not the question. It's which religious philosophy agrees with you the most, not which one is absolutely 100% in line with your beliefs. If there was one that was such, one would think you'd be practicing it already.Overall, I'll have to stick with my first answer... none. Are you telling me you can't differentiate between any religious moral philosophy? You can't see any more advantage of, say, Buddhism as a core of moral tenets as opposed to others? Come on, that's nonsense. Just because one does not agree with any religion doesn't mean one can't make a comparative judgment about what they say.Originally posted by Sava
there's not really any then Boris...
Maybe not in this thread, but I can direct your attention to the Episcopalian bishop thread...and also, I didn't post any anti-Christian "harps"...
