It's quasi-religion. There's a lot of lifted material from other sources, and there's a lot of silliness about eternal life, being immortals, and catching ghosts and monsters. Fun to look at, though.

So Buddhism is no better philosophically than, say, Osiricism?

Well, maybe you shouldn't accuse me of doing something I'm not...
Oh come on. This is practically Fez-like of you. I thought you were proud of your Christianity-bashing!

sure, but you accused me of doing it in this thread, and I wasn't... plus... pot, kettle, black...

I didn't accuse you of doing it specifically in this thread, I only said your narrowing of the question to just Christianity (and orthodoxy as well) seemed to be part of the continual harping.

And I don't go around bashing Christianity. I've argued against certain Christian tenets to which I object, and I've expressed contempt for the behavior of certain Christians, yes. But I can't recall making any wholesale condemnations of Christianity. On the contrary, I rather like a good deal of what Christian philosophy says, at least in terms of how we should love each other.

            Don't you wuv me?

I perceived your comments as such.

Perhaps you've never read some of your own posts in the Creationism threads.

Plus, I like a lot of Christianity's teachings. My bashing has more to do with people taking it too seriously.

Oh do tell. Creationism is one of those tenets I said I've argued against. In my arguments against it, I've never expressed wholesale contempt for Christianity. In fact, in the latest exchange with diplomat, I even went to the trouble of explicitely pointing out how most Christians are rational and accept evolution as fact.

In the strictest sense, you aren't Christian unless you believe in creation.

Again, this is nonsense, since nothing in the NT requires a literal belief in the Creation story. Some choose to interpret it that way, but their interpretation is no more valid than the one that says the Big Bang and evolution and such are all just part of God's plan. It is not a litmus test for being a true Christian.

Christianity and Buddhism are the best, but I am probably biased.
