Peter Ueberroth, former Baseball Commish and fomer US Olympic President, may also run from the Republican side. He doesn't seem to have a bad resume for this job at all. He turned around the '84 LA Olympics, earning him "Time's Man of the Year" and headed "Rebuild LA", designed to rebuild economically depressed areas of Los Angeles.

            Should be interesting.

It's fast become the biggest joke in politics. Schwarzy, Coleman, Huffington and Flynt all in the same race...and there's word that Gallagher and D.L. Hughley will get in on the action!

I can't think of any better evidence of pure democracy being equivalent to mob rule.

                I think its a great thing .

No parties controlling the electoral process. Whoever wants to run can run. This is the best chance for third parties to show their stuff.

In every election you have your crazies running anyway, usually they are (one of) the Socialist parties. Why should this election be any different?

you call it mob rule. I call it democracy.

Are you saying only lefties or right wingers should run?

I think it's great you have people running who don't fit into the 2 main ideologies or political parties.

Is God willing to prevent evil, but not able? Then he is not omnipotent. Is he able, but not willing? Then he is malevolent. Is he both able and willing? Then whence cometh evil? Is he neither able nor willing?

                            Um, no he isn't.

Davis isn't on the ballot--he can't be, because a successful recall would end his governorship. So nobody's running against Davis, he's not running.

Bustamante isn't running out of disloyalty to Davis or anything, he's running as insurance to keep the governorship Democratic. Should the recall succeed, the Dems do need a viable choice for a replacement. Bustamante is, however, campaigning against the recall.

                            • Oh, come on... Bustamante is basically running against Davis. Yeah, he's saying vote no on the recall like a good Democrat, but he knows Davis will get the snot kicked out of him and knows that he's in good position to win the damned thing. He has no loyalty to Davis, and I bet his 'campaign' against the recall will be lip service.
