The economy can't respond "right away"; it has a delayed reaction. The prosperity of the 90's was (at least mostly) due to Reagan and Bush senior.
Even the Cato Institute (a right wing think-tank) says this cannot be proven... try again...

The economy now is not Bush junior's fault.
The continued stagnation is... the massive deficits are killing any hope of recovery. And it's sure nice to see Bush giving rich people welfare when 40 million Americans don't have health care, and 3 million have lost jobs.
Enron et al's fraud began during the Clinton administration,
Yeah, and who held secret meetings with Cheney about energy policy? Who contributed hundreds of thousands to Bush's campaign? Who plays golf with Dubya? Mr. Ken Lay... who won't ever see the inside of a cell because he's butt buddies with Bush.
and no matter what would have caused a serious recession.
Bush's irresponsible spending and obscene tax gifts to the rich are making it worse.
And 9-11 didn't help particularly. Unless you want to blame that on Bush to?
too bad we'll never know because Bush is objecting to any INDEPENDENT 9-11 investigation... I wonder why that is?
To us, it is the BEAST.

Really? During the christening of the new aircraft carrier, the media reported he was at home still suffering from alzheimers.

Yes, but if Gore was president, we'd already be back in a boom, wouldn't we

Assuming Bush knew about it (unlikely), what could he have done to keep it from bringing on a recession? It had ALREADY HAPPENED. In fact, it could be argued (not that I support this) that in witholding the information, he hoped to forstall it altogether. Which is all pretty much a moot point, as I doubt he knew about it.

This forum is very divided on whether he is good or not.. seems like there are more 6 or greater scores up there than the lesser ones.
For there is [another] kind of violence, slower but just as deadly, destructive as the shot or the bomb in the night. This is the violence of institutions -- indifference, inaction, and decay. This is the violence that afflicts the poor, that poisons relations between men because their skin has different colors. - Bobby Kennedy (Mindless Menance of Violence)

Reagan was an @sshole. Anyone who says they like Reagan should talk to my parents about the 80's. It was hell on earth for the working class.

                              Fez, get a brain.

Anyone who hates Reagan should talk to MY parents about the 80s . It was great for the lower middle class, who worked hard and were able to ascend the ranks. .
