Let's wait. I won't be surprised if a power grab based on the wish to return to "Old Glory" will happen. Heck, that's what Putin bases his policy towards the public on. 13% for the public votes for the "communist" (they're NOT communists. they're a bunch of deranged weirdos.) candidate. some 55% vote for Putin, a "Strong leader", just like in the old times.

During the 96' election a "disaster" was averted, when ENTIRE media has risen to get Boris Yeltsin into the seat, because the "communists" have almost won.

I can't imagine anyone thinking the fall of the Soviet Union was a BAD thing!
Which proves once again that the Americans are living in a fantasy world. No wonder the rest of the world hates you.

Yes, I know, look who's talking.

You know, and I know that the 'communists' are not bringing back the old style Soviet Communism... and so do most Russians. Voting for a 'strong leader' does not mean you want to go back to totalitarianism . One of the big things we want in our Presidents is being a strong leader.

Soviet style communism will NEVER return to Russia. The younger generation despises it, and the older generation is dying off steadily.

You're not very knowledgeable with facts about the Russian youth, are you? Sure they like western pop culture, but you can ask even the Russian people here. Ask their opinion about the SU.

If Russia ever shines we should all jump for joy. The Stalinist era was the closest they have ever come to a golden age, and if you think they will have one in the next ten years you're in a fantasy world. Oh yeah, I already knew you were.

'There is a greater darkness than the one we fight. It is the darkness of the soul that has lost its way. The war we fight is not against powers and principalities, it is against chaos and despair. Greater than the death of flesh is the death of hope, the death of dreams. Against this peril we can never surrender. The future is all around us, waiting, in moments of transition, to be born in moments of revelation. No one knows the shape of that future or where it will take us. We know only that it is always born in pain.'"

I've read more than enough articles on the Russian youth. They don't just like Western pop culture, but also the new freedom they have. They don't want to go back to the dark ages.

Russian Israelis aren't really Russian are they? I mean, they aren't in the country anymore, so what it matter what they think?

Bull****. Their golden age was the NEP period. Unfortunetly Stalin killed it.

if you think they will have one in the next ten years

Within the next ten years the IMMENSE oil located in Siberia will be taken out of the ground pumping money into the Russian economy. Oil can do wonders for a country. Look at Saudi Arabia.

Did his job well. Nixon also tried the 'madman' strategy a few times to scare the Soviets.

Do you think they'd be anywhere near what they are now without oil? Do you think they'd have any money or anyone would give a rats ass about the country without it?

As a matter of fact, yes. We heard all these fundies talking about how Armageddon was just up the road and since Reagan was very close to these guys and had the means to fulfill the profecy...

Sounds paranoid now butback then we were really scared...

You admit that the Golden Age of the people of Russia came under soviet rule.

                              Time to backpedal, Imran.

I think the oil has done very little for the people of Saudi Arabia.
