It comes from one of the Founding Fathers who was describing a wise foreign policy, don't go around looking for enemies or they might follow you home (the last part is my contribution).
Wise man...
One of the things I do admire in Americans is that they keep their Founding Fathers in such high regards
Within weeks they'll be re-opening the shipyards
And notifying the next of kin
Once again...
“I give you a new commandment, that you love one another. Just as I have loved you, you also should love one another. By this everyone will know that you are my disciples, if you have love for one another.”

Uhmm, It seems many Italians don't know where Sweden or Afghanistan are... and not many knows about El Nino (me too)
But on the overall I think Italians didn't score too bad... Much better than some of the others polled. Although those Swedes were impressive, they were almost always in first or second place.
I got 19/20 (didn't know what El Nino is)

Not too bad, i just finished the so called "maturity exams" which are the final exams in the Italian school before starting Uni.
I think I never studied so much in my whole life than in this two months

Hey guys, what incentive do people anywhere have to learn about someone or something half way around the world? You seem to think knowing this stuff matters...
The point is that because the US population is so ignorant about the goings on in the real world at large, the US government is better able to scare the 'herd' into supporting its actions on its war on terror such as invading Iraq when it didn't even pose a threat to the US OR have any links with Al Qaeda - after all that 42% who didn't know where Al Qaeda came from probably thought they were from Iraq and were more than happy to 'get Saddam back for 9/11'...
People fear the unknown - ignorance is the unknown - ignorant people can be easily manipulated, which is dangerous when these same people make up a sizeable part of the World's most powerful country!
You're evidence of that, Mobius.
Hussein violated the cease-fire from jump.
Life is not measured by the number of breaths you take, but by the moments that take your breath away.
"Hating America is something best left to Mobius. He is an expert Yank hater.
He also hates Texans and Australians, he does diversify." ~ Braindead
20/20... terriblly shameful on the ignorance of the world as a whole. The US was consistently one of the worst...
The only questions i found kinda tricky were the largest religion one and the el nino one. I knew both of these, but i know these arent nearly as obvious as "find the friggin pacific ocean on the map..."
At first i was shocked at the number of americans that failed to find mexico on the map, but this shock was equaled by the number of euros that couldnt find italy, or Sweden on the map... tho the US has it's share of ignorance, it is a worldwide problem
