Unlike Phily or New York, Albert, the suburbs in Georgia are very close (and sometimes INSIDE) the city limits. By suburbs, I mean the type of area you've seen, not some geographical limits.

Atlanta is nice though because they instituted a minimum lot size so the 'burbs have a very country feel with large spacious areas and lots of trees.

I'm not going to complain about that - I grew up in the Atlanta suburbs and really enjoyed them, regardless of the neighborhood (we moved 5 times when I was in Atlanta).

tsk tsk... i guess that love for the suburbs is what has made Imran into the libertarian he is...

Why is that something worth "tsk"ing about?

                The suburbs are great.

I grew up in a suburb of Dallas. It was actually a good sized city - maybe 180,000 people. But the good news was that I lived in North Irving, which was the nice part (and by nice, I mean lower crime, less trashy, higher quality stores, better people, etc.). Traffic wasn't a problem, but the city was big enough such that there was stuff to do, and in any case, the DFW metroplex was huge.

As I got older, though, the bad part of town started getting close to where I lived, and every time I go back to visit it seems worse. Too many lower class people moving into north Irving, and as a result, the upper middle class and upper class are moving further north as well - and let's face it, the nice part of town (not only in terms of houses, but just in general) is where those people live.

                So that sucks.

When I moved to my first apartment in Austin, I was living actually in a major city for the first time. Parking/traffic was awful, too many lower class people, extremely trashy, and few people who fit the "stereotype" of people I would want to hang out with. I hated it.

Fortunately, I moved right outside of Austin, to the Westlake/Lakeway area. I'm in a MUCH nicer apartment, near the lake, less traffic, all in all much nicer. The area isn't fully developed, so yes, AS, I do have to go a few miles to go out to dinner, or go to the grocery store, or whatnot. But fortunately I have a car, and it's definitely worth having to drive 5-10 miles. Doesn't take that long, and when I come home, I don't have to hate the area in which I live.

So, sorry, but I'll take the suburbs ANY day over living in the city.

Is there some kind of relationship between the amount of land and the right-wingness of the person?

Not really. Many Hollywood actors are raging liberals, while my mom (who lives in houses much smaller than they do) is a fundamentalist Christian conservative.

Just because you are an extremist doesn't mean that every Libertarian has to be . Or do you not mind chasing away people who might vote for your party?

Hey, we're not gonna win anyway, so we don't want quasi-Libertarians contaminating us

Ah so you are like those certain Democrats who'd rather 'make a point' than win. I see...
