I consider "Yesterday" to be a better song that "Imagine."

Yesterday was too easily parodied to be taken seriously, for example, the STD version:

Leprosy, all my skin is falling off of me,
I'm not half the man I used to be,
Oh how did I get leprosy?

Syphillis, it all it started with a simple kiss....

      Why'd she have VD
      I don't know,
      She wouldn't say

      And so forth

Because you can parody it you consider it a worse song? Interesting judgement .

It's just a rocked up version of "Saints" they cooked up while they were playing in Hamburg.

          Think about it

"I never danced with another oooooohhhh, when I saw her standing there"

          Compare (at the same tempo)

"Oh Lord I want to be in that number ooohhhh, when the Saints go marching in".

          See.

            Yes.

It applies to "Stairway to heaven", "Barbie girl" and "Its only rock and roll".

Agathon: I never noticed that. Its a completely different key with some chord variations, but more or less the same!!

I love lennon but its devil's advocate time.

                "imagine no posessions"

its great to imagine it, but lennon sure as hell didn't practice it!

                forgive me mr. lennon.

I guess he was talking about different contexts. In his life, the chances of Imagine being realised were practically nil, so upon realising that it would take way longer than his lifetime, he decided to not put himself out, just for the sake of it.

I'm speculating of course, but it seems in keeping with his character, and with "Let it be".

                    Imagine you have gonorrhea
                    it's easy if you try
                    go into the bathroom
                    pretend you're pissing fire

                    Imagine all the people
                    taking leaks in pain

                    Ahahaaa

I really must revise my method of judging songs.

McCartney admits it. I remember him on television showing how he came up with it.

Let it Be was a Paul song
                              Shut up jk

IIRC it was a joint song, and John wrote the lyrics.

A lot of them were joint songs... it's what made the Beatles great.
