Lennon had the better lyrics. McCartney had better tunes. IMHO."I wrote a song about dental floss but did anyone's teeth get cleaner?" -Frank Zappa

Clearly, they all peaked when they were together. It's a sad statement of truth that judging the greatness of the Beatles is determined by who degraded the furthest after they broke up.
Even George never managed to top "Something" or "Here Comes the Sun" although "My Sweet Lord" comes close.
John was the best, but he fell the farthest.
Paul was next best, but just got a tad too silly afterwards.
George continually improved within the band, and hardly fell off much after.
Ringo, well, Ringo played the drums I guess.

Although I think it could be argue that certain songs ("Give Me Love", "Be Here Now", "So Sad", "Rising Sun", "Brainwashed", "Bangla Desh", "Awaiting On You All") by Harrison come very close to his Beatles accomplishments.

Don't forget "While My Guitar Gently Weeps". That's nigh-on impossible to top, too."I am sick and tired of people who say that if you debate and you disagree with this administration somehow you're not patriotic. Nah, lyrics, but also in terms of philosophy, its gotta be lennon. Admittedly he's no Voltaire, but in terms of taking an idea to the people, in a poetic/artistic/musical sense more than anything, he's hard to top.
I personally prefer Lennons post-Beatles work, except for some of the latter Beatles stuff, thats hard to top. See Sgt. Pepper.
McCartney is an idiot. He even supported Gulf War II for heavens sake!!!

He'd probably either be in obscurity, continue his work being a thorn in the side of the USA's swing to the right, a figurehead of the idealists, or possibly doing Beatles getogethers until George died.
Of course, the Anthology project would have been the first of many lol."I work in IT so I'd be buggered without a computer" - Words of wisdom from Provost Harrison

I voted for Paul. Like said before Paul had the tunes, John had the lyrics. I liked Paul's work with Wings better than Lennon's solo career.“I give you a new commandment, that you love one another. Just as I have loved you, you also should love one another. By this everyone will know that you are my disciples, if you have love for one another.”
- John 13:34-35 (NRSV)
