I read this thread title as "Thousands dead".

Never heard of this guy, though. He was 100 though, so he had a good innings.
If I'm posting here then Counterglow must be down.

This just proves liberals are hypocrites.

Thurmond won his first election in 1928, to local office, and his last in 1996, to his eighth Senate term.
Hard to believe that my long-dead maternal grandfather, who I remember as a senile old man, was a kid when Thurmond was elected for the first time...

Ya'll have to excuse Sava. He has an internet persona to maintain.

Che. For a man that admires the likes of Lenin how do you get off critizing someone like Strom.

I exceedingly dislike this habit of turning bad people into saints just because they've died. This is just bringing back memories of the whole Nixon funeral farce.

Now wait a second, let's go back to his wife and kids.
In his mid-60's he married a HOT mid-20's woman.
                They had 4 kids.

And the same people on this forum that would cheer on the execution of a convicted murderer are the ones saying we need to be respectful of Strom. Vuck that, he doesn't deserve any respect. He was evil and responsible for death and misery. The world is better without him.

I know you were probably serious when you wrote that but for some reason I can't take that comment all that seriously.

And the world is definitely better off without the convicted murderers.

I never cheer when convicted murders are put to death. But I'm sure you meant that to say some people. Otherwise you would be just making sweeping generalizations and we all know you would never want to do that.

Sweep away. I feel sorry for the murderer's family, their poor mother and father, not for them.

Jeez, just the other day the jokes were flying around OT about the Iranian protestors who committed self-immolation, but when that hateful old man finally died, it's suddenly time for "respect for the dead"? Please.

The man was a smart politician. The only thing he should be praised for is his service in WW2. But since you obviously love Strom, for some strange reason, I'm not going to post anything else to the contrary. I think its disgraceful you praise the man. Enough said.
You'll note the thread start was sans praise or condemnation. I can't say enough that I disagreed with Strom's politics.

But the Strom your cheering against died a long time ago. Why celebrate? When was the last time he did anything of consequence? He's been a veritable vegetable for years. He was long past any phase where he was hurting people.

He lived to be 100. He led a long and by all accounts successful life. He died in relative peace.

What's to celebrate? Is his dying of natural causes after an unusually long life some sort of vengeance on him?
