      mtg,
Indians could have been considered terrorists by the United states standards then, as factions of the PLO is now in Israel.

As I advocated, this is not about a war on Islam, but the terroristic fanaticals within that religion.

There maybe a billion/half of them, but if we wanted this to be a war on Islam, we certainly have the capability to DRASTICALLY reduce those numbers in a hurry.

All I am trying to say is that democracy to these regions will take time, results will not happen over night, but they will happen.
Lets always remember the passangers on United Flight 93, true heroes in every sense of the word!

        Actually 3 (1992)

2 if you count the version they had been playing live in 1991

Ironic that Ice-T went on to play a cop on TV though...

Really? I didn't know Rumsfeld conducted anything, successful or otherwise. AFAIK, he sits on his ass just south of the Potomac.

"Successful" wars against almost non-existant opposition. Oh, boy, I was real worried.

Troop strength in Iraq was too low huh? Not enough heavy armor?
Next time you're cheerleading USA! USA!, remember the 27 KIA's along one stretch of road on March 23, because the US didn't secure it's line of advance.

Oh, and while you're doing the victory dance, maybe want to talk to the families of last week's four KIA's?

But we won, though, so I guess everybody can pack up and go home, right? Oh, I guess not - we have to have tens of thousands of troops for security and occupation duties, spend tens of billions of dollars more on them, etc. But hey, it's no different than peacetime duty in Germany, right?

Let's see how things look in six months or a year, ok? Right now, we've got two sinkholes for pouring in cash and stationing troops.

Oh, and while you're at it, give David McKiernan a ring and tell him he's wrong, the war's over. I'm sure he'll be glad to hear it.

Oh wait, by the time the 4th ID got there the party was already over. [/QUOTE]

And the fanatics are holding their own or gaining in popularity, depending on the population group you look at.

The US doesn't have the balls to take the political heat from mass killing of civilians, so those capabilities are pretty meaningless.

Democracy isn't what we want. What we want is a pro-western "Democracy" that will effectively contain it's domestic elements that may be a threat to us and our interests. That's a much taller order than simple democracy.

Which one? I said we'd kick their asses militarily. That was beyond doubt.

I also said we had insufficient forces for occupation and security. That has yet to play out. 15 casualties last week in at least five separate incidents, plus failure to find WMDs isn't a good indicator that we have excess forces for occupation.

That little piece of absurdity came from a Christian nutbag, not an Islamic one. There's a subtle difference there, but I wouldn't expect most Americans to figure it out, since all those third world countries look alike anyway.

I'd expect most Americans to be able to figure out the subtle difference between a lawless "frontier" region and the rest of Pakistan though.

The difference is that the lawless frontier controls Afghanistan's (and that nice little proposed pipeline the oil conspiracy theorists rant about) access to the sea.

Oh, and it controls movement of people and materiel from Iran to the pro-Taleban controlled areas of Afghanistan...

Oh, and it's the new haven and longstanding resupply point for the al Qaeda and Taleban boys...

Second largest route for export of poppies...

                          But hey

But hey I'm sure once Bush gets the pipeline plans figured out it will turn into a safe neighborhood.
