  • Hitler and Bush...

...are a stupid topic, so this thread is about Lenin.

I just read his theory of imperialism (highest form of capitalism, "dying" capitalism etc, etc.) - and I think it was a waste of time. Not only there is still no proletarian world revolution ( ), I wonder why such a poorly written thing full of contradictions could be become so influential that it was still seem as basic theory in the former Soviet Union and the other Eastern block countries. No wonder that system broke down.

So when can we now expect the revolution?

About the same time as the Rapture. In other words, aaaannnnyyyy miiiinnuuuuteee nooooow.

That lets me segue into an old Finnish joke from before the fall of SU:

"What's the same about communists and Christians?"
"They both claim life's better beyond the border, but aren't eager to experience it firsthand"
"Spirit merges with matter to sanctify the universe. Matter transcends to return to spirit. The interchangeability of matter and spirit means the starlit magic of the outermost life of our universe becomes the soul-light magic of the innermost life of our self." - Dennis Kucinich, candidate for the U. S. presidency
"That’s the future of the Democratic Party: providing Republicans with a number of cute (but not that bright) comfort women." - Adam Yoshida, Canada's gift to the world

We're just waiting for Bush to run the economy into the ground for us. The right is so much better at discrediting its own policies than we are.

communism has always been born in nations in an economic crisis. give it time.

hopefully, one day, socialism will evolve in a thriving area.

Oh please... give me a break.

And you socialists and communists are dreaming. Keep your little revolutions out of my way, and keep it in developing countries. Like I care.
For there is [another] kind of violence, slower but just as deadly, destructive as the shot or the bomb in the night. This is the violence of institutions -- indifference, inaction, and decay. This is the violence that afflicts the poor, that poisons relations between men because their skin has different colors. - Bobby Kennedy (Mindless Menance of Violence)

What I can't understand about his theories (and those of other Marxists) is how exactly did he expect the leadership of the revolution (AKA the dictatorship of the proletariat) to simply fade away and open the way to "true" communism and equality....or did he even consider that at all?

Oh and....please wake me up when the revolution knocks at my door.

The revolution cannot result only of economic events, it needs people willing strongly to destroy and rebuilt. And unfortunatly when you ask people about whom you believe they could benefit from the revolution, if they are ready to do it, they balk.

People are quite good at assessing what they would loose, which is a good test that they recognize that the society, as bad as they claim it to be all day long, bring them a lot that they never talk about.

As it was said on this forum, how long would you survive, naked, in the jungle?
