Yea, that was an interesting turn of events. Does it mean we're gonna try the Gandhi/MLK angle now?

I still need to get some sleep, but i haven't posted an opinion so I"m ok.

    • Ned, Azazel - you know what the saddest part is?

We nearly made it to Ned's second option (having Jordan take back the territories with the pals) in 1988 (or was it 89?) when Peres was in charge.

But you know what happenned? The Likkud BLEW THE WHISTLE ON IT!! They called it treason and said they were giving up holy lands.

We could have ended the conflict there and save dozens of civilians lives!!

      • Siro :

And after a month a violent revolution would've overthrown King Hussein and then, oh joy, we would've had a real war, not just an intifada.

        • Real War. would have been much shorter, and WAY less bloody.

Siro is absolutely correct on this one.

          • But then we would've occupied Judea&Samaria again, so what's the point?

                • How can we believe Abbas when he promises to fight terrorism, when he only wants to talk to Hamas et al. and refuses to use force against them? Does anyone think that talking will convince Hamas to end their attacks against Israel?

In his first news conference since taking office, Abbas said he would keep trying to engage militant groups in dialogue, and would not resort to force to bring them to halt their attacks on Israelis."

                  • Abbas doesn't have anywhere near the political capital he needs yet to be tough on terrorism. He was just brought in out of the wilderness, few Palestinians support him. Plus, the PA's security forces are a mess. Already the false outrage wears away at the peace plan.

                    • I just found an article about how the UN is against Israel building the security wall to protect itself from suicide bombers.

"A senior UN official on Friday urged Israel to halt construction of the wall it is building to keep suicide bombers from entering the country because of its potentially devastating impact on the Palestinian people and the peace process. "
