panag: I think this roadmap is good for Israel. I don't think we're risking anything by going there, esp. since we're surely not seen as capitulating towards the arab world, but as two people that want to sign a peace deal. Besides the risk of the propoganda loss, There is no risk, and luckily, so far, there has been no "we broke the other side" from either side, so far.

        hi ,

the mere fact that neither we or the pals had anything to do with it is a danger , ..... a very dangerous danger , .....

        risk , plenty of it , ......

this is as always going to go the wrong way , they can put it with that other deal , ..... ( oslo ) and ship it to an other planet , it might work there , .....

Try again. We will see any formation of an attacking force days before it is strike-capable. Then, we'll demand it to be removed, then we'll destroy it.

Comparing the situation to 73' is ignorant, really.
But if they are allowed to have an Army, why would we destroy it? After all, we agreed to it, no?

What you're saying is that we should allow them to have an army, but destroy it as soon as one forms.

              Syria has an army, right?
              we don't destroy it, right?

BUT if they placed their entire armored fist in offensive position, (and assuming their armored fist stood a good fighting chance against Israel ), we'd strike, pre-emptively. While the started to concentrate their army, we'd warn them that we're watching, and then, if they won't blink, we'd destroy them. We're still two steps ahead of them in both electronic intelligence and datagathering, as well as human intelligence.

Well, think ahead, what will happen in 20 years? 30? We may lose our superiority, we may still have it but with less of a gap, a lot of **** can happen and a real Pal army is just too potentially dangerous.

Besides, it's not like an Iraqi armored column is on the way from Baghdad and has couple days to arrive. All the Pals have to do is a small exercise and then suddenly turn right instead of left and 5 minutes later we're in deep ****.

And the Syria analogy is false. If we had the option to have Syria demilitarized we would've done it, just like in the Pal case.

Oh, sure, sure. But PERSONALLY, I wouldn't mind that the palestinians would have an army, in the current climate. I just fail to see the logic of why would they do that.

POTENTIALLY, every army is dangerous. AND No, I don't think that the palestinians are angels. I even think that at least in the forseeable future, they'd surely try and backstab us if they could. But they can't. That's the whole point. Our advantage is enormous, Eli. In the entire palestinian conflict, we've used the army's fingertips.

WHAT deep ****? When they'll have an excersize, we'll beef up our security, accordingly. If such a plan will be brewing, we'll see it weeks before any such option.

Generally, this is an entirely theoretical debate, since the palestinians have agreed to be demilitarized.

And therefore, if we have the opportunity to avoid the creation of such a potentially dangerous army, we should use it. Especially when we're talking about our backyard.

Well, we tried, and we succeeded, and that's great. But it's not something that we should've insisted as badly on, as the right of return, for example.

You are the stupidest person I have ever crossed paths with.

EDIT: the following was posted on about 2 hours of sleep in 2 nights. Don't take it seriously.

Clearly the "road map" is a stunt to help Israel's PR. The first step is making Palestine stop terrorism, which clearly it can not and will not do. Then Bush can lie through his teeth and say "Now, now, Palestine. We really expected better of you."

Nobody backing the "road map" believes it will work. They just want the Palestinians to ruin another peace plan.
