  • We do not need to kill all of the Arab fundementalist if we are able to stop them from recruiting, instead of helping them recruit by bombing first and proving or failing to prove our cause later.
We need to influence them economically for the better or for the worse if need be.
I find it impossible to see a economic model of the Persian States where in one province is afffected and it doesnt efffect the Others.IMO they cannot be worked with peicemeal having Iraq and Afgan and Kazahk surrounding it.I mentioned it since the potential for other(Blackmarket) scources of income besides oil exist which fund hostile cadres.

    The Arab ruling class is non-representative(Of some) of the Arab peoples’ will in cases.for organizations such as these to be able to recruit and fund cadres.{Shaw of Iran,King Faysul-II,}
Thus Anti-Western Theocrats and Tribal Sultanates rule paralell to the official government providing covert trade with undeclared nations or organized crime while recruiting members and reaping financial rescources from Black market trade in fuel ,narcotics and weaponry.
If the Leadership is authentic then it represents the will of the people, and it should not be attacked. If it is not then let us supply the means for the people to themselves attack it.
The world is a messy place, and unfortunately the messier it gets, the more work we have to do."

"I was responding to the empire of oil."

It was a question to I think MM for clarification what he meant.

"Wrt, Iraq, it DOES make sense. I've already said that we've changed the tripwire."

And what has Iraq done wrt islamist terror? Or is it just some kind of zero tolerance against any regime that was once your boy and pissed you off?

"Regardless, this is the type of response we've decided on. If anything harsher responses."

You're falling for the escalation trap.

"I don't agree with your "you'll make them hate you more" argument. If they attack us, they are going down."

That's a gross simplification. You are extending the sympathizer field that way. And the sympathizers don't "go down". That's the large swamp that you can't target bomb.

      "Isreal is there to stay...."

And this rant is supposed to mean what?
“Now we declare… that the law-making power or the first and real effective source of law is the people or the body of citizens or the prevailing part of the people according to its election or its will expressed in general convention by vote, commanding or deciding that something be done or omitted in regard to human civil acts under penalty or temporal punishment….” (Marsilius of Padua, „Defensor Pacis“, AD 1324)

I'm falling for the escalation trap and you are falling for the appeasement trap. We shall see. Remember the predictions that the Arab "street" would rise because of the US Iraq invasion? Didn't happen.

It means that we support Isreal. It means that the Arabs want to eliminate it as a state. It means we won't sell them down the river.

If I'm falling for a trap, it would be the containment trap.

It was always a possibility, but the regimes seem to have a firmer grip on dissent. But you can never know whether the next drop makes the barrel overflow.

And in this context, it is relevant how?

              Check your reading comprehension.

GP said predictions, nothing about _my_ predictions. If he meant the latter, he's wrong. I never predicted uprisings, and I said I consider a regime actually falling as unlikely for now. But that does not change that there is a risk of that.

                        • If you really don't want to play the escalation game, wouldn't that argue for not taking over Afghanistan? I mean heck that is probably as big of a bramble-bush to walk into as Iraq. And it lacks sea access.

Which was about pushing Sharon to make some lame ass concessions, not about the dissolution of Israel.
