  • Most of the 17 year old girls that I know are a lot more mature than many of the 30something guys on this formum (hint ^)

Maybe we should legislate that these guys shouldn't be having sex..... wait, no need...

    • Rogan, might I remind you, you're a European, and you folks tend to mature earlier than Americans do? Also, you're a bunch of Lolita-lovin' pervs.

We Americans have to go all the way to Thailand to have legal sex with children. You can just drive over to the Czech Republic.

No disagreement. But I bet they are both getting somehting out of it. And I think that girl might be playing korn...

she's 17 now, she was 16 when this happened, and she'll be 18 in the latter part of this year.

No, we're older, and we know why 9 times out of ten a much older man goes out with a teenage girl, because he can't relate to women his own age. Sikander was spot on. Theben and I very nearly decided to go have a "talk" with one guy, who was 27, who was dating our 18 year-old sister. We let it slide, because, knowing our sister, she wasn't gonna be interested in him for very long, and she wasn't

No, but that's what the law sez. I have met fewer and fewer "adult" like 18 year olds the older I've gotten. There are a few things I could infer from this: I'm becoming an old codger, Americans are getting ever more immature, or we weren't as mature as we thought we were at that age.
          che

About your sister and that 27 year old, I’m sure the reason that you and Theben were going to go have a "talk" with this guy (and I’m inferring here from the quotation marks that you and Theben were conspiring to engage in more than talking) wasn't because of his age. In fact I bet it was from the other characteristics he exhibited, which probably either involved being some sort of shady character, who was seeking to use your sister. If that wasn't the case, and you had a polite, hard-working, considerate guy who just happened to be 27 and you didn't approve, then I feel sorry for your sister, and I hope she feels lucky that you didn't meddle in her life on that occasion. I’m positive that you would have had a similar response to this guy even if your sister had of been 27 as well. If not, then I don't understand why you'd have objections to them.

I agree with you partially about the maturity thing. I personally feel like I'm in some type of extended adolesence. I know every year on my birthday my mom asks me how it feels to be my new age, and I always tell her that it feels the exact same as my previous one, which is true, but I also feel that slowly but surely I am becoming a better person, and feel more willing to both accept the consequences of my actions, and try to minimize the consequences for everyone else around me. For me that is maturity, and it is a slow process, that I don't see it as a destination, but a never ending journey.

There should be a major maturity leap between a teenager and a mid twenty-something. Hell, frankly, I should think a person in their mid-twenties would be bored listening to the trials and travels of becomming an adult yet again, having gone throw it themselves and watched their friends go through it.
I was never bored for even a single second, it didn't matter what we were talking about or what we were doing, I always found her company to be completely entertaining. Some of my problem is that I guess I don't see my self as an adult, nor really part of any age group, I just feel like myself. I know that I've been through some experiences that she hasn't, but I've been through experiences many people haven't, yet we can still relate. In my way of thinking, I'm sure during WWII that there were some 19 year old farm boys who had 19 year old farm girls as g/fs. Some of these farm boys enlisted, or the government conscripted them, and they travelled outside of their farm world, and saw the world, along with many other amazing things. These farm boys came home, and many of them through the G.I. Bill went on to college, and then married their g/fs who became stay at home moms. Many of these people stayed together and had happy relationships maybe not because they shared common experiences, but because they shared something else. Just because one person had seen more in life didn't doom those relationships. In my situation, not only did we share that something else, but we did have many common experiences, many that were just similar, some things that I'd experienced, and she hadn't yet, and she'd experienced some things I hadn't. Also we share common likes and dislikes. Yet more than anything, it's like we shared a common outlook on life. We always knew what the other one was thinking or feeling, and that was the important thing.

I don't think she is playing me, maybe she should have left home, but we didn't think it'd be in her best interest. I'm hoping that this gets, over soon, that we can work things out with her parents, and that everyone is happy with this. If not, I'll be out of college, she'll be in college, and if she still wants to (which i think she will), then we can do whatever we please. So it'll be all good.

            • When it is true that the girl accompanied Korn to his car of her own free will, I think none of them did anything wrong. I do not think it was very smart to select the car though...

So in my view this whole affair -and the many puritanical reactions by the bluestockings- is a desecration of justice. What a joke!
It confirms my worst suspicions about the US.

The argument that this girl was not yet an adult is just silly. I presume her puritanical parents -or those excellent schools- did give her some sex education, or are they going to wait till they marry her off?
They should have put her in a chastity belt, just to be sure, or have locked her in the cellar.

This is truly a sad affair....

For the record: I have never had sex with a minor.
I would also like to remark that as a child I often preferred relationships/friendships with older (adult) people, because they were less immature. I wasn't interested in them sexually, but considered most of my compeers to be soulless gigglers, especially the girls.

It surprises me that Korn is happy with the result.
My best wishes though (it could probably have ended worse)! Flee the bigots!

                    • This story is another reason why America sucks. Most European guys have nailed chicks younger than that (OK perhaps not all the computer geeks here ) and no one raises an eyebrow. The legal age for sex in Sweden is 15, while the legal age for marriage is 18.

My dad was 7 years older than mom, and they met when she was 21.

My former brother-in-law divorced my sister when he was 30 to live with a 17 year old. Big scandal. My sister instantly found a new boyfriend. When she asked if they could come over for dinner in my house for new years eve, I was drunk and said - No way I would allow that narco in my house! Now I know he's no narco, but he sure looks like one with long black hair, long goatie and tribal tatoos all over his body (my avatar). But after I got to know him better, we are very close friends.

I hope it works out well for you Korn, but beware of that hag you will get as mother-in-law. Or perhaps she will change when she gets to know you better.

I'd be seriously distressed if you had 30 year olds go were having sex and going out with 15 year olds. That's just a BAD thing!

                        • While that would surely be a scandal, it would not be illegal.

                          • Perhaps not... but it can't be good for the 15 year old, at least psychologically.

                            • Guys in their own age does not know how to treat women. 30 year olds do (mostly). Not that I would like my daughters to date someone twice their age though.
