In reality I like Maryland and I actually lived in Baltimore of six months. The bay was really nice and the sea food was great (I loved the soft shell crabs especially deep fried with lots of butter). Another upside is it was really easy to get laid there; the downside is the city has one of the highest STD rates in the country.
If you're visiting then pack a "rain coat".

IMO, we're one country. I was born in Illinois, I live in Illinois, yet don't feel any inherent loyalty to Illinois. I don't fly the Illinois flag. And frankly, I think state pride is stupid. People from certain states, which I will not mention, take great pride in their state. Some even think their state is a different country. So... is state pride stupid?
You don't think anything is worth taking pride in, so this is little surprise.
