    --------------------------------
    Shalom aleichem!

    The centaurian people wish to express great thankfulness to you for helping us to at last come to conclusion that we should worship the one true God. We wish you to sort out your spiritual issues in the soonest time too - believing is so much better than living in question and doubt!
    As agreed before we now owe you an IOU of 150 beakers or Monotheism, should you request that knowledge.
    To that end, we're interested in the continuation of our knowledge exchange. Knowing you're now digging into the secrets of Construction we'd like to offer an exchange of knowledge about somewhat related disciple - Metal Casting, in which case our IOU would be fully and fairly paid as well.

    On other affairs our scout has finished exploring the coastline leading up to the mighty river, which flows through your territory blessing it with fertilizing floods.
    Meanwhile the attempts to create a boat that would go without rowing seem to near fruition, which means a trade route between our glorious civilizations could be opened soon (in 50 years).
    To that end, and respecting the intimacy of affairs of your people, we'd like to offer you an agreement about open borders for trading purposes (no unit traversing, just to open commerce). Later, if all goes well and both our people and yours express wish for some closer contact, we could as well open our territories to travelers and explorers.

    From your thankful friends.

    * Do we offer MC for Construction? It might actually seem uneven - forges are quite powerful. Im somewhat reluctant to just ask if they are willing to trade, as it's likely just answer with "is MC for trade too?". Also, we don't appear to have anything else to exchange for Construction and knowing that GS's research is currently better than ours, we won't be able until quite a time after they finish the tech.

    • Yes, you're right. There are only 2 +/- even deals possible:
      • Metal Casting (643) <-> Construction (500) + our debt (150)
      • Monotheism (171) <-> our debt (150)

      I think it OK to send the message bt...

      (Construction also enables bridge building, so roads will work over rivers too, which might make our land-route to the bananas a turn shorter)

      • cats are powerful too, they couild read the offer as meaning we're going to war. But it is probably worth it still.

        • They might also read the message as us being extremely friendly - giving away forges isn't something one does on regular basis.

          Will send the message once gmail comes back online.

          EDIT: sent

          • By the way:
            But if only one party has Astronomy and the only trade route is via ocean, they are the only ones who get the trade.
            This means GS must have Sailing to get any use of the trade route.
            I hope they ain't thinking we're attempting to fool them..

            • Would our religion spread to them with trade and without the special building? I'm not sure on how the mechanics of that works. They might think we're trying to spy on their cities with religion too?

              • Yes, they might, but it's a chance they should be willing to take for the price of increased commerce (once we figure out the deal about Sailing).
                The chance, however is low as it has a distance modifier factored in.
                Special building doubles the chance IIRC.

                • ahhh, thanks. I never understood how that worked.
                  Would be nice if it happened though.

                    If they knew what spy-info we get from score/power/Vox/... , they shouldn't need to worry about religion-spying for now.

                    I'm not sure if Sailing works the same in this case as Astronomy. It could very well be the case though (I don't know what'll take more time to check: testing in-game or reading the source code)

                            It probably only means they realize AC-GS diplomacy might be more important than how to play their turn.

                            Seriously though, it's only been 3 days and there was a lot of information / questions in our message.
