I think Vel will be liking Civ4 much better than 3. It appears to have far more strategies and hence replayability.

Oh, and I would like to join.
I'm building a wagon! On some other part of the internets, obviously (but not that other site).

Truth be told, I still reverted to the odd game of Civ II for a non-smac evening

But I am engrossed in Civ IV. Now that I have the graphics kinks ironed out (I invested in a new card, and then threw memory at the problem) I am trying a few hours every evening with a different civ and at a different diff level. So far my favourite is the Indians (that fast worker's extra movement point lasts throughout the game, whereas the other specialty units aren't worth a damn in many cases - e.g. I never built a Samurai as Japan - Musketeers came too soon thereafter.)
Just to butt in my unwanted nose here, but UUs went from some really nice stuff (MW, anyone?) that could trigger your GA, whether or not you wanted it, to a funny looking unit that you never use.

UUs in CivIV are a waste. Take them out or do something with them.

I've not played a demo game before, but it looks fun and I really liked SMAC so I thought I'd ask to join your team.

Hopefully CIV4 will make a better impression and will be a little less linear. Who knows? They may have a game that is deeper than a slip of onion paper this time.

same.havnt actually gotten around to playing,so dunno.i doubt it will be anything worthwile to play and have the same linear gameplay, but maybe...

I'd like to join all of you in an environment that you don't know for 100% either. (I have no chance in a smac game with/against any of you).

What is our vote in the Mercenary Team issue?

I'd go as 'yea', because it shouldn't distract anything from the game.

I would go for Yea as well, since it is ridiculous to demand "equal" commitment from a team. May there finally be a mercenary team.

I vote "yea" as well - seems to add some interesting roleplay possibilities

You Know, I've never played a demo game before. Would this be a good time to start, or should I run away quickly before losing even more time to the internets .
