    How does the team feel about Imperio's request for a delay?

    Personally I think they should have asked at least a few days ago, but at this point it does us no good to be hard-arses about it. Besides, it would also give our OOP guys a chance to get back.

      I agree this is a positive development for us. If we were the same size as Imperio I'd actually consider this a bad thing, but I suspect we can out-produce and out-research them a little more every turn they delay the attack.

      At this point IMHO the C&D department becomes more important than ever. I think we played a little fast and loose with military recently, and we almost paid for it - had Templars been able to coordinate all their power in the south we would have been in real trouble.

      I propose the following:

      *Try to track Imperio builds and match them with our northern stack. If Cape Town alone can do this then ok, but it seemed to fall a bit behind.
      *Keep Pink Dot and 1-2 other cities on military for the south until Pink can at least get a credible stack of defenders.
      *Infrastructure everywhere else (5-7 of our 10 cities).

      Honestly, my personal preference is to do the above AND upgrade all of the obsolete units in Pink and Cape, but I understand the opportunity cost of the gold. Just realize that unless we're going unit-for-unit with our neighbors or get a NAP in place we're going to be right back to emergency whips and upgrades if they move in with big cat stacks again.

      EDIT: I'm against the Imperio delay.

        If Imperio wants a real-time delay, it means they want to act sooner in game time rather than waiting. Imperio acting sooner can only be bad for us. So collectively we should be against the delay.

        Realistically, though, we might want to take the gentlemanly road and not force Imperio to make subpar game decisions because of real-life holiday scheduling.

          I think we should say nothing and go along with whatever snoopy/other teams decide. We can play because Sullla is back today but we have other people away for the weekend.

            I agree. Mixing game events/plans and real life inconviences is not fair.

              I vote for not saying anything. It's in our best interest to vote no, but that wouldn't be nice, so let's just refrain from voting.

              I also agree about switching to Infra builds, starting with forges and barracks in all cities that don't already have them.

                Alright, well if the game does get delayed, we have plenty of time to deal with all of this. If not, we'll just go with the build swaps already suggested (Airstrip One to monastery, Something Fishy to barracks).

                I'm bone-tired tonight from traveling back from Paris to London, but I'll give the game some major attention tomorrow morning. Hopefully I can squeeze in the time to update the Soldier count thread, which is in some disarray. Just tough to get to everything on every turn, unfortunately.

                I'd also like to thank everyone for working so hard during the last few days of in-game crisis during an extremely busy part of the calendar.

                  Also remember to set up Airstrip One with two extra scientists. I know it guts the city's tile productivity for a while, but it's only for 7 turns, and speeds Operation Bloodbath in the long run.

                      With 3hrs to go on the turn, Templars have still not logged in ... unless they're getting Pizza.

                        Final moves for T130:

                        - Airstrip One swapped to Islamic monastery. Something Fishy swapped to barracks. Airstrip One was already running the two Scientist specialists, so I didn't have to make a change there.

                        - We are currently researching "nothing" as I deselected Drama. Based on our discussions, this is the best course for now, as we can build up beakers and then apply them instantly to whatever we choose to research. Please inform me if I've got this wrong, as we actually make a non-trivial amount of beakers even at 0% science (21/turn base) with the four scientist specialists at the capital.

                        - I will take back the Turnplayer reins for the moment, although if (when?) war breaks out I'll be happy to give them back to sunrise.

                        - Imperio still has about 2 hours to move into our territory this turn and declare war if they're planning to attack. I honestly have no clue what they are thinking anymore...

                        Given all that's going on, I think our team would benefit from a "State of the Empire" overview thread, and I will try to put one together over the weekend. Now, stats:

                        What wonder is Damascus on? My guess is Mausoleum, if Templars have any sense. Most likely after that would be Temple of Artemis. Longshot would be Apostolic Palace.

                        Infrastructure: Monument, Library

                        Mutal's exact printout of 30 shields pretty much confirms that they build an elephant last turn (50 to 70/10 to 30). Lakamha, who knows? Could have been a cheap build or something swapped. Uxmal added another forest chop to its wonder build. Statue of Zeus is perhaps the most likely culprit there - thank goodness that Imperio is putting forest chops into a wonder rather than units to attack us! Mayapan finishes a 70-shield build, so very likely a mace. Calakmul finished something in the 30-35 shield range; work boat? Cheap defender?

                        This team appears to be going for broke on the current attack. They've completely given up on infrastructure and expansion. If they fire their shot and miss the mark, they will literally have nothing left.

                        The Warning = 76 shields (+21)
                        Infrastructure: Granary, Barracks, Lighthouse, Library, Forge, Confucian Temple, Obelisk, Academy
                        Heliopolis = 46 shields (-61)
                        Infrastructure: Granary, Barracks
                        Alexandria = 60 shields (+14)
                        Infrastructure: Granary, Forge
                        Giza = 50 shields (+2)

                        Byblos = 24 shields (+2)
                        Infrastructure: Obelisk

                        Heliopolis did a build swap; we'll have to try and remember it has 100+ shields in something else. Everything else is working on infrastructure (which is definitely bad for us long term...)

                        Caerbannog = N/A, zero shields invested
                        Infrastructure: Palace, Barracks, Library, Great Wall
                        Digger's Burrow = 18 shields (+6)

                        Phrygian = 3 shields (+3)
                        Infrastructure: none

                        Caerbannog finishes another cheap unit - archer? Spear/axe? Unknown, but probably archer.

                          Yes, civic swap. Is Org Rel / Islam worth the civic upkeep costs? What religion is in our Colossus city?

                            Our colossus building city is confused.

                            I was just on-line and templars logged in. The did the following:

                            moved some more units to the front
                            upgraded 2 swords to CRI
                            swapped to serfdom (!)

                            I tried chatting to them but I was totally ignored (they logged out just as I was typing the last message).

                            Here is a pic of the new Templar stack(s) ...

                            And ... are we planning on doing anything about this guy?

                              I saw it too, Ruff. I just logged into the game and swapped Airstrip One back to horse archer, and Something Fishy back to catapult. I really hate to do both, as we're going to waste our whole Golden Age building units, but what can we do?

                              I really think PAL should send Imperio a fruit basket after this game ends. These idiots are letting them walk to a victory.

                              EDIT: We have a spear (Mariah) that can deal with Imperio's wandering chariot if need be.

                                Is it worth swapping to Confucianism and mono for the +25% hammers - there are 2 forest chops in that queue at the moment - that would pull an extra 15 hammers out of nothing that we can put into a unit.
