I was thinking a PBEM Demcracy game would be interesting where there were factions of human players. Sure, it'd take forever....

Why not make it a national contest?? Would love to be in that one
Or europe versus the U.S. versus Asia, versus ..., you get the pointIs God willing to prevent evil, but not able? Then he is not omnipotent. Is he able, but not willing? Then he is malevolent. Is he both able and willing? Then whence cometh evil? Is he neither able nor willing?

I should know, some idiot (i.e. BirdMan [BirdBrain/VultureBreath]) created a world in Call To Power PBEM that had me in tundra on an island upon which i was destined to not advance beyond the stone age! Stupid BirdBrain!!!
Alternatively, starting two identical games with the players swapped ensures 100% fairness. It has been done in CtP with no complaints :

Hey, this was allready on page two
Btw: where is everybody from/residing??
This is somewhat important regarding the different release scedules. Why can't they do simultanious releasesIs God willing to prevent evil, but not able? Then he is not omnipotent. Hi all,
Been a couple of days since I posted...I feel out of touch.
I agree, first turn veto is fine.
Also, I'm in Cleveland, Ohio USA. Eastern time zone.
Oh, and BTW Alva, I'm changing my Civ of choice vote to random. I wanna be like everyone else.An assassinated leader, war in the Balkans, and the German Chancellor calling for a unified Europe...what's the worst thing that can happen? - Dennis Miller

re: civ choice,
maybe we should all do a random on one of the new civ. Seems logical to do so. I now I would prefer one of the new ones. Allthough I still don't know theire excact traits, UU,.....Is God willing to prevent evil, but not able? Then he is not omnipotent. Is he able, but not willing? Then he is malevolent. Well...I don't think there's an option, that says "random, but only new Civs"...so the only way we could choose random (and only get new Civs), is by making a little random No generator, and says No 1 is Spain, No 2 is Korea, etc...but the thing is, this random generator can only be used by one certain computer (Since it of course generates random numbers on the different computers...)
Or did I miss information, that this function actually is in game?
And btw, I don't care wheter I'll be playing as one of the new Civs or not...I just hope I don't end up playing as England or Celts...This space is empty... or is it?

What's wrong with one of us throwing a dice???
1= celts
2=spain and so on????
old fashioned but effective , and yes, I will trust youIs God willing to prevent evil, but not able? Then he is not omnipotent. Is he able, but not willing? Then he is malevolent. Is he both able and willing? Then whence cometh evil? Is he neither able nor willing?

Do you have a 24 sided die? I suppose two twelves from D&D, one just to designate high and low.
But then we'd have to post a list of civs, right?
Like...d12 result (1-6) and the score of the second die
1- The Americans
2- Arabia
3- The Aztec
4- Babylon
5- The Carthaginians
6- Celts
7- China
8- Egypt
9- England
10- France
11- Germany
12- Greece
d12 result (7-12) and the score of the second die
(13) 1- India
(14) 2- The Iriqious
(15) 3- Japan
(16) 4- Korea
(17) 5- Mongolia
(18) 6- Ottomans
(19) 7- Persia
(20) 8- Rome
(21) 9- Russia
(22) 10- Scandanavia
(23) 11- Spain
(24) 12 - Shaka of the Zulu (my favorite leader)
For just new Civs you'd need an eight sided...
Ok, ok...I did play D&D when I was younger...I admit it!!!! I'm a D&D nerd!!!! Arghhhhhh.......

euh Buster, their are only 8 new civs
so using two 6 sided dices are more then sufficient.
2=not
3=not
4 to 10= new civ
11=not
12=notIs God willing to prevent evil, but not able? Then he is not omnipotent. Is he able, but not willing? Then he is malevolent. Is he both able and willing? Then whence cometh evil? Is he neither able nor willing?

alva, two six sideds rolled together create a bell curve.
Thus the civ at number 7 wouldn't have a higher probability of being selected than one at 4 or 10. Thus it wouldn't be...technically...a fair representation of a random system.
Check this out:
D 1 2 3 4 5 6
1 2 3 4 5 6 7
2 3 4 5 6 7 8
3 4 5 6 7 8 9
4 5 6 7 8 9 10
5 6 7 8 9 10 11
6 7 8 9 10 11 12
If 2,3,11, and 12 are merely discounted...
Reroll - 6 occurances
4 - 3 times
5 - 4 times
6 - 5 times
7 - 6 times
8 - 5 times
9 - 4 times
10 - 3 times
So the probability of the 7 civ getting selected, including the rerolls is .29 or nearly a third of the time.An assassinated leader, war in the Balkans, and the German Chancellor calling for a unified Europe...what's the worst thing that can happen? - Dennis Miller
