  • The only thing I'd like changed are espionage costs. Other than that, I vote for standard rules, including the minor things like aircraft range, hitpoints and so on.
Anyway, we'd have to wait for PtW to see if they changed things, wouldn't we?

    Difficulty level: Regent or Monarch.

    • aircraft range: don't know, only played with once, so...

hp: don't mind if you up them 1 or 2 points
      conscript:3
      regular :5
      veteran :6
      elite :7
      something like that??

lethal air bomb: again, not sure(but since there isn't an anti aircraft [b]unit[/], probably no

espionage costs: well, more money will be availlable (second harbor?), so I don't think it's goig to be necesairy
(btw: trip, how your idea comming along with the extra bonus resource? Very much liked the idea

difficulty: I'm use playing emperor, but regent or monarch will do just fine

      more modding coming on:
      1.all resources set to dissapear??
      2. and much less off them ( about 1.5 per player )?

I'd say, we should set it to regent...
This space is empty... or is it?

            • I think Regent too. That's the level I usually play on, anyone who usually plays on Emperor will find it easy, but I'd rather have some of us find the game easy than some of us find it too hard. The fun and challenge will be in communicating/fighting with each other and making/breaking alliances, we should do all we can to keep that the focus of the game.

Sounds good, I've done almost the same thing with my game (I think I made it 3, 4, 5, 7)...

But I don't know...maybe we should just go with the standard rules for the game...It is afterall 'The first Apolyton PBEM game'

                  Great...now I'm being quoted sarcastically...

I'm going to stick to my guns, and agree with ADG's last line here...let's play with the standard rules. Most of you will probably be involved in more than a couple of MP games pretty early on, and I'm sure most of them will be modded in some way. Let's keep "The First Apolyton PBEM Game " simple and straight forward. That way, we can complain about Firaxis' shortsightedness later!

This included resource placements. If Firaxis thought about designing the map creation engine to not only set the starting locations in relatively equal and good spots, hopefully they also thought about setting it up to provide players with most of the key resources they need, but not all...requiring trade and/or war to obtain them all. Let's see how smart those guys really are!

                  • But the standard game is much less fun than a good mod. How is the whole 'first ever PBEM game' relevant to keeping the rules default?

Also, I say regent. The game is against each other, not corruption.

                    • Then regent it is

                      Time for something else :
(I do hope once we have PTW, games will be easier to start , if they take weeks to decide just the basics )

Do we get a vote/veto on restarting(only first turn)?
If you get really stuck in an awful position for example.

btw: never noticed that 'veto' is an anagram of 'vote', funny

                          • I think there needs to be some option to be able to restart, say, if 4 out of the 5 of us agree. Once I started on a 2 tile tundra island... You guys put me in that position for a months-long PBEM game and you won't see much of me again.

                                RE: restart:

each of us get's one vote to restart, however there is a risk involved offcourse. If you do ask for one and you end up worse , you will have to hope someone else asks for one. Any comments?
