so put my vote down for "other" er, i guess there isnt one of those either....
Considering it as a single player only game, Civ III is good.
    Much better graphics.
Much better relevance of being able to produce.
Much better with the individual strengths/weaknesses peculiar to a Civ.

Judging from the replies here, I'd say that unreasonably high expectations explains most of the whining. I'd also venture that they are looking back at Civ 1 and 2 with rose colored glasses, because at least a few seem to forget just how bad the AI was in that game.

BTW, "whinging" is the Australian term for "whining". Try not to be so provincial.

Yin, if a certain tactic ruins the fun for you, don't use it. Nobody is making you.

One who uses a parochial term begs the rest of the English speaking world to be less provincial. Ironik, init?

"Whinging" is also used by the English. Ask around.

I've had great joy MULTIPLAYING in Civ3

            Also The README.txt file stated
            * Civilization III requires OpenGL support. If you experience problems, make sure to download and install the latest drivers for your videocard and any service pack updates to your operating system.

This was NOT stated on the box.
            Is that false advertising?

They announced multiplaying would not be in the game at least a month before release because they were having a hard time making it work right. (Whatever that means)

It is common practice to find additional requirements in the readme.txt file. It always has been and always will be. The box gets printed well before the game is finished and sometimes things are left out. (whether or not this game is "finished" is another discussion entirely )

I don't think false advertising applies in either case. (Though I'm not a lawyer and I have never played one on TV)
              Sorry....nothing to say!

Either way, it is in breach of the New Zealand Fair Trading Act, and if I had the available to pay for a lawsuit, I could force infogrammes to repackage all its units in New Zealand!
