  • Whiners

i read many forums about various games and i must admit that this forum is the one with the most whiners. (the fifa 2002 forum is the only other game forum where i saw so many whiners too.)

    i think Civ3 is GREAT

i am tired of reading the threads in this forum everyday in order to find something interesting about the game but instead find endless stupid compaints and childish negative posts. i hope you understand what i want to say. i mean i'm tired of people posting threads with titles such as "Why Civ3 is bad" etc. i think they don't care at all about the game but only want to see if they will break their personal previous record of the replies they had in previous threads they started.

i belive that civ3 is a great game (much better than civ2 or civ1) and most bygs have dissapperaed with the 1.16f patch.

so, about the whiners, my question is:

why do u think they act like this?

too bad theres not an option for "they paid $50 for a game that is a major dissapointment, bordering on false advertisement" such as just enough editor to claim one existed, etc.

so put my vote down for "other" er, i guess there isnt one of those either....
The Civ3 world is one where stealth bombers are unable to sink galleons, Man-O-Wars are a powerful counter to battleships, and knights always come equipped with the AT-S2 Anti-Tank Sword.

The Simwiz2 Combat Mod Version 2.0 is available for download! See the changes here. You can download it from the CivFanatics Thread or the Apolyton Thread.

I'm more for the option of:

-"What? Someone might actually have a different opinion than us?"

        or how about...

-"They actually wish to speak their minds on a public forum?"

Darn whiners, why can't they just settle into orgasmic bliss from the mere utterance of Sid's name like the rest of us sane folk?

Dear lords, don't start this one again!

(The LE did make claims about its contents that are only true if you spin around real fast and lie down with your eyes shut.)

Other than that, I don't think anything claimed officially about the game was demonstrably false but there's no convincing some people who mistake their dislike of a game mechanic's implementation with that mechanic being falsely represented.

They said Civ III will come up with a great editor.....

Anyway just wanna tell, this is a flawed poll, people complains because they love civIII and was disappointed. Will u happy if Civ III stay put and dont learn their mistakes to become a great game because nobody complains?Wont u be happy if Civ III learn their mistakes to come out with something to become a great game and the credits goes to the complainers? These 2 sentences are about the same just wanna make sure u fully understand

Some may be employees or related to rival software companies, yes, and many for sure can't adapt to the fierce Civ III'S AI and don't corner how to play it next to Civ II.

                The official quote is:

"More powerful and intuitive customization tools."

The problem is that the statement is so open-ended. To a blind chimpanzee, a stick in the sand is more intuitive than what was equipped before. And shouldn't "more powerful" mean that we should be able to edit more than before? Sure, the editor has *potential* to be more than the txt files of yesteryear, but that wasn't what was given to us in that shiny metal tin.

Here's a quote from Jeff Morris:

"When we approached the editing tools for Civilization III, we were determined to offer a contemporary customization environment. In previous incarnations of this franchise, users were capable of making radical changes to the game systems, but often needed to locate and edit text files to do so. In Civilization III these changes are still possible...."

Except it is illegal to read/change the code isn't it? I wonder if our Deutsche Freunden read this and mis-interpretted it too...

                Here's another:

"Using the editor, users are empowered to create scenarios that we never dreamt of during development."

Must have been in a coma. Either that, or they have problems reaching REM when they sleep.

                Try this:

"Firaxis is very interested in Civilization III having an active mod community, but need to know where our efforts are best spent."

And people wonder why 'whiners' keep repeating their requests over and over and over and....

                This one is my favorite:

"Together we can make Civilization III a potent platform for not only exploring factual history, but also your creativity and interests."

The same factual history where spearmen destroy tanks or cavemen can single-handedly sink 5 battleships in-harbour.

I stopped playing Civ2 about 3 or 4 years ago. Got tired of it. Of course, that was after several months of great gameplay for its day. I stopped playing Civ3 3 or 4 weeks ago. Got tired of it. Of course, that was after the few games it took to realize the game not only didn't progress in any meaningful way but that things like Settler Diarreah were made even WORSE than before despite the incompetent claims of 'we finally fixed it.'

guys, if you're so disappointed, why are you still lurking here? If you think the game is "broken beyond repair" ( whining quote of the year ), go someplace else .... I dunno, go back to Civ II-CTP -SMAC forums, Empire Earth, EU II, MoO3...
