I´ve been around a month far from contact with vox, should I start writing the Pm now we are about to contact them?
What should I ask about ?
Post here please!
Nuclearis Winterius the II
Señor Nuclearis Winterius the III,
Diplomat with the Voxians, and also
Señor Pablo Winterius, missionary Bishop and Archbishop of the Roleplay team
Nuclear Winter -- We do not YET have contact with Vox, but feel free to write them saying that we are negotiating to receive contact with them and would like to know if they would like to aquire any technology from us. You may offer them Mysticsm and/or Writing. Also find out if there are any "first tier" techs they need.
You also need to inquire, later in the message, if they will sell us contact with Gathering Storm.
jdjdjd and adaMada -- having both of you negotiate may be more complicated and confusing that it is worth. Ideally, we should end up with receiving contact with Vox, gold, and additional gold for the sale of Writing to GoW. If GoW keeps up its current removal pace, then in TWO TURNS we will do the sale of Writing to GoW, so any exchange should be targeted for around this time.
My preference is to buy Contact for LESS THAN WRITING. Writing is the max we should pay for it. As a note, 25 gold is not a sizeable amount, as it is what we receive every time we slay a barbarian village. However, it is what we have offered and it would be unfair to suddenly pull it back.
What we need to do is to get them to BID AGAINST EACH OTHER, telling the team with the higher price that the other team is offering us a better price, and seeing if they're willing to beat it. So I need you both working actively together on this.
I know adaMada's been very busy IRL, so if you don't hear from him by later today (or if he says he's too busy to actively negotiate) I want jdjdjd to take over as the sole negotiator for both nations so that there is no cross posts or mixed messages.

I'm ready to open negotations, but if it'd be best for jdjdjd to take on both roles, I'm happy for him to do it. I's not a bad idea to have one person dealing with both sides -- adds an element of coordination that two people can't attain.
Anyway, if jdjdjd'd like to take on both roles, or if Togas feels that it'd be better that way, I'm happy to step aside. Meanwhile, I haven't either sent or recieved anything from GoW. GoW may be pissed over Togas' last message and may not be communicating with us, or Panzer might just be taking hte time to clear it with his team -- for all of Ghengis' fancy talk, it normally takes them just as long as everyone else to reply. Assuming GoW is negotating, our best bet is to convince both teams (perhaps by just telling them to ask each other if they don't believe us) that they really are in a bidding war. As long as both teams know that they'll either make the best bid or get nothing at all, they should be willing to go pretty low.
Anyway, no contact from Panzer yet. Will post as soon as something comes in, and I'll contact him once we've figured out what we want to say. We'll probably need to wait until BFM/Panzer's gotten back about the bids available to them before we can decide how to proceed, though :-\.

My dear friend, Senor Picahulu, most wise, most brave, most excellent ambassador from the Great Sultan Borc, Lord and Wise Master of the Kingdom of Neu Demogyptica, the Lord of the Horizons,
Thanks for having me over for dinner at your lovely villa. The family is charming, and the food was incredibly good. The company was excellent, as always. I was quite intrigued by that impressive chicken you had fried for us, it was quite good. I trust the cheese was to your satisfaction as well, it was quite strong, in the good old fashioned Iberian style.
Anyway, down to business, the lot of the envoy. It is somewhat deplorable to have to interrupt dinner with it, but there we go.
We are very, very appreciated that you chaps, and the Great Sultan himself, master of all Arabia, lord of the Horizons, could come to speak to Milord Togas, Thane Lord of Spain. I must apologize for not being present, but sadly it was not possible.
We of the government of Spain have carefully reviewed the settlement proposal, as put forward by your government, and despite the merits of it, we were, unfortunately, ultimately unhappy with it. You see...way back in time, a group of settlers with a cheerful and highly politically incorrect song on their lips, and something very warm in their hearts, settled the region of El Valle De Los Torros, so named, as you can see, by the exceptionally big cows that live in the region. We have lived there now for millenia, it has been our home. The area is strewn with our sacred burial grounds, and the ruins of olden times. Our heritage is there, Spain is there, it was always that way. It would be a terrible blow to both pride and heritage if we were to cut it in half in such a way, to cede it away, along with our memories and our forefather's dreams.
Thus, we wouldn't easily part with it, and we ask, for the sake of our heritage, which we above all things hold most dear, that you allow us to keep it in the family, so to speak. I am sure you understand.
Secondly, we also think it prudent and wise to use this thick jungle as a natural barrier between our two civilizations, simply so that we may not be tempted to betray each other for land, not that this is on our minds in any way, I assure you. Is that not a prudent suggestion, however? You see, your proposal would put Arabian cities betwixt our own, and Spanish cities betwixt thine own. Thus, you see, it could prove a terrible temptation for us both.
Also, we think that the proposal is not good for you as well. You see, it only gives you two reasonable city sites, adequate ones, that is. Look to your east, however. There, before you, is a great, lush valley, devoid of man, left to itself, the abode of nature. Why not colonize these lands, most fertile, where many cities could be constructed, and your civilization would flourish? Please, think upon it.
I await thy response, fair and generous as they always are.

jdjdjd and adaMada -- jdjdjd shall take the lead, then. I want you both to work together to get us the best deal possible, and try to get it within TWO TURNS from now. Both of you shall write GoW to inform them of the situation.

Sorry I'm posting here, But I just caught up osme interesting news:
- Lux has captured a settler of GoW, they both confessed, but didn't seem offebsive to each other.
- 50% to 50% of the Lux members are in favor/against war.
- Lux has spotted Legoland on the shore, but Trip told me "they got a bottle with a message from them".
- It aws a strange talk and Ghenghis even seemed to say lux would go to war with us, but that doesn't seem very likely to me.
Where can I post a record of the chat?
Please be careful with using this info in conversations outside our borders, it might be lies.

[E_T> [Trip> Ghengis is upset that we captured their settler :P
[GhengisFarb> That's an ongoing joke, about the settler.
So It's a joke...
But I'm in Chat with GF now and he sent me a PM that he had also sent AdaMada. Here it is:
GhengisFarb wrote on 08-02-2003 22:40:
Here's the deal I was trying to work up with Vox and Roleplay, but Roleplay wouldn't negotiate.
Here was the plan.
(Our turn)
We sell you contact with Vox for 25 gold.
We pay Vox to give you contact with GS.
We continue to move our two Warriors north.
(Your turn)
You receive Contact with Vox from us.
You receive Contact with GS from Vox.
You give us Writing.
You now have the ability to sell contact with GS to both Lux and ND.
You also have the first chance to sell techs to GS.
In Conclusion
We get 25 gold now, Writing and Contact with GS on our next turn (since you would give it to us on your turn)
You get contact with Vox, GS, and the first opportunity to sell contact with GS to Lux and ND, and the first opportunity to sell techs to GS which should allow you to make some very lucrative deals.
Prior agreements still in effect:
Non-Aggression Treaty between Roleplay and Gow, expires ??
Roleplay cannot trade Horseback Riding for 14 turns.
GoW would not be able to trade Writing for 15 turns after it receives it.
I'll post the chat log with GF soon...

After a surprise negotiation this evening with myself, E_T, adamada, and GhengisFarb present, we agreed to the following:
GoW accepts 25g for Contact with Vox.
We give GoW Writing on our turn.
GoW continues removing their warriors.
GoW pays Vox to give us contact with Gathering Storm.
If Vox does not give us Contact with GS, GoW and RP will not trade/give/sell anything to Vox until it does so.
GoW will not trade/give/sell contact with GS or Writing to anyone for 15 turns.
We will not trade/give/sell Horseback Riding to anyone for 15 turns.
GoW and Roleplay agree to a Non-Agression Pact for 30 turns.
All of these deals are as of 1790bc.
Negotiations with Lux Invicta for contact will now cease.
Additionally, Ghengis informed us that they wish to begin researching mapmaking. We verified that we were not researching it, but did not state what we were researching.
Ghengis claims that Lux has moved 2 warriors into Neu Dem territory and that Lux has propositioned GoW to join them in a war against Neu Dem. Ghengis says that a decision has not been reached yet about if his team will get involved or not.
Ghengis also informs us that Neu Dem has linked up iron and that Lux has not.
... there is a chance we could get screwed in this deal, if Vox does not give us contact with GS, but our anaysis was that it was a calculated risk, and one worth taking at the time.
Nuclear Winter -- Contact Vox and tell them how pleased we are that we will soon have contact with them. Inform them that GoW has informed us that they will be purchasing contact with Gathering Storm FOR us, and that we eagerly await receipt of contact from Vox.
History Guy -- You will IMMEDIATELY begin negotiations with Neu Dem for the sale of contact with Vox. Our asking price will be mathematics or 75g or 4gpt. You should also inquire with them about the state of affairs between them and Lux.

For general reference, the complete text of the chat with GoW. This will serve as the deal itself -- Togas suggested (and Ghengis agreed) that we don't need an official document as long as we agree to abide by the chat itself.

[edit by Togas to save space in this thread]
* EDIT by ada: Thanks Togas -- I didn't like putting it all here, but didn't know if you wanted a new thread on the subject. Will start a new thread next time. *
A late night chat with Trip of Lux brought the following to light:
(note: This is combined with information we learned from Neu Dem and GoW. This information is somewhat reliable, but as with anything told to us, it must not be assumed to be true)
Apparantly, Neu Dem and Lux were racing for the same city spot. It's unclear who built first (ND claims they did), but they now have twin cities, 2 tiles apart (one between them). Trip claims this site gives him horses and silk, so it was necessary to build there. Trip also claims that he has linked up horses to his empire, they plan to quickly grow (have settlers ready), mass horsemen and rush ND.
Trip claims that their PMs to ND are not being answered. He believes war is inevitable. He has sent warriors INTO ND territory to scout them out very recently ... probably to get an idea of what sorts of reinforcements ND could send to the front. Trip claims they have garrisoned 6 units in their "twin city".
This twin city situation is going to make peace impossible. E_T and I tried to discuss possible peace ideas and suggestions, but it seemed to fall on deaf ears. This war will happen. Trip may be hoping we'll join him, but it sounds like he's going to take matters into his own hands no matter what we do.
Ghengis claims that Trip tried to buy their services vs. ND. Ghengis could not say if they have accepted Trip's offer or not. Ghengis claims that Lux has been stockpiling cash for quite some time and has a large sum ready to be used for upgrades, however, they still do not have iron linked up.
