We must plan with Vox and GoW to attack en masse on a single target, if at all possible. This is the only way to successfully attack in MP. The first few units probably will not kill most/all of the GS pikes and may take losses on their way to the target also. Only if we concentrate or forces will any real gains be made.

Lets kill their pikes, not train them!

      Senors,

      [ooc]If the game still works...[/ooc]

Are the plans still underway? We are now without an army that is as large as the Arab force, and it may not be such a wise choice to make an expedition without expanding the force much more. Feudalism is imperative now, and without it, our defense and this expedition are in doubt. Pikemen and Macemen are needed here.

But, without the numbers to bolster our defense at home, would an expedition overseas be wise?

        I say yes, it is.
Trained units are incredibly better than regulars. training comes from fighting; besides, we will keep a strong force at home. And we have teh protection pacts with GoW and Legoland... I put my beard on it that it is a gain/gain situation if properly executed.

I have an Idea for army organizing [ooc]Unit naming[/ooc] : We would create two divisions in the army , the ´´Gladius Rex´´ (the royal guard, literally the Sword of the king) [ooc]We would name this way most foot infantry and pikes[/ooc] and the ´´Gladius Dei´´ (The church´s armed froces, literally the Sword of God)[ooc]Mostly mounted units and foot infantry, and of course some elite pikemen called the Swiss Pikes [/ooc] The Gladius Rex Would be under the comand of the King, but his chosen General would command things for him, and the Gladius Dei would be under command from the Pope. [ooc] In pratice, nothing would change as to who gives orders to move the units, more of a naming unit convension[/ooc]
I know many will say it is a horrible idea, but anyway, at least we can bring some more movement to this training grounds [ooc]Bring people back to posting[/ooc]

The Gladius Dei would have to be made up mostly of defensive troops. However, for the odd crusade or something, we'd need a few knights, and conquistadors. The Pope would directly control the army, but he'd have to appoint a field commander to its charge in case of war. We can't afford to lose the Pope on the battlefield.

I like the plan, actually. Of course, the King's army would be giant, and the Pope's army...not so giant. But, I think, the Pope would be able to ask the King for a crusade now and then, and it might work out well. Besides, the Pope does live in Vatican City, a seperate entity, and it needs to be protected from heretical scum, don't you think?

I support these proposals. It makes the roleplay more realistic. It is true that in fact nothing will change, if I would be given control over some part of the spanish military force, I will hand over the control to senor Astronius or one of his main advirsors. I myself know too little of battlestrategies to be able to properly control the Papal forces. My military adviser will control it in my name.

                  [OOC]

While I am loathe to squash an idea to increase roleplay - I don't like this one.

I have kept my distance from the religious roleplay element in the team, because it just isn't my thing. Let's please not inject that element into the military.

[ooc]Roleplay is roleplay, Marshal. I can see that you might think that it would detract from your forces. I think that, really, it would simply be a designation for a select group of defensive forces primarily, and it won't grow too large.[/ooc]

                    • Fell news, Milords.

Tis by post this morn that I was informed of the fact that our cover is blown. Yesterday eve, as darkness fell upon the Spanish coast, a light was seen on the horizon. Our great ship the Santa Maria was in the area, and moved forward to investigate. From a distance, they could clearly make out the blue sails of another galley ship. The Captain seized a lantern, and glanced at a very large and very frightening Egyptian vessel.

There was no conflict, but it is certain that the Egyptians saw us as well as we them.

And so, it is without a doubt that the Egyptians know that we are amassing a fleet, and they have the waterways to their continent patrolled by their own vessels. Would an expedition now be foolhardy and disastrous?

                      • Hmmm, alarming news indeed,
but It is presumable that we are building fleets... I guess all nations are. And even if we were not ready to invade them, we would probably want to investigate their seas from afar.
Anyway this requires more discussion and planing, but I don´t think we should halt our war effort for this.

                        • I don't either. What bothers me is that the Egyptians have patrols in the waterways between us and their continent. Without playing some serious tactical games (faux fleets, etc.), we may have a very problematic time getting the troops across the seas.

                            • This is damnable. I see no real way to get this expedition concluded succesfully. If we get in Persia, I wonder if we will already be too late. Their iron gone, their troops dying in the jungles, the Egyptians taking on a decidedly offensive campaign, the waters crawling with Egyptian ships, it all seems rather ill-fated from the start. I wonder if it can succeed at all now. I fear we're seeing the destruction of Persia.
