You may be right Don Iago. I would rather see the destruction of Demogyptia! And I'm getting impatient now...
I've been away at sea for some while now, and I was hoping we would raise an enormous army and attack them in the weak belly. Now I see only betrayal and weakness.

    • My friend,

There is the one consolation of Feudalism. Perhaps all is not lost in such an adventure, though I fear if we were to do so now we would weaken ourselves back home at the time in which we would need the most troops (i.e. when the Ansars come). I fear now that the Persians cannot any longer ably defend themselves without iron. The Egyptians may be able to roll up their entire island when all they have against them are obsolete troops that seem to have leapt out of the Stone Age. Let us hope for the best, but be prepared for the worst.

The prime concern of Spain must be the defense at home. Pikemen and Medieval Infantrymen are useful indeed, but not if our offensive troops are away on a mission abroad that stands higher chances of failure than success. We must be prepared to form a stronghold here at home in order to crush the Arabian tide that we all know to be coming.

      • I come to believe they may have cut Iron for quickly creating bronze Spearman and upgrading them. I am not sure, though. they may be using this one for yet another influx of Immortals. I will try and contact Beta.

        • If it was cut, they are in a lot of trouble and it may not be worth send our troops. We should keep them here for ND then. Otherwise we risk getting mired in a conflict on another continent whil ND builds up.

          • Let's not forget we are sending units to Estonia for two reasons.

            1. We hope to weaken GS. GS would likely pick us as their first target regardless if we attacked them now or not. With their Great LightHouse, they are able to quickly reach Spains shores.

            2. We are getting Engineering from Vox for sending over these units.

The "cutting" of the road to Vox's Iron is just apparrent on one screen shot. It may have been cut long ago and has already been reconnected. When we get each turn, the only thin we can see in the Fog of War is whether a new city is founded or if one is destroyed or if cultural boundaries expand or change. You do not see whether roads are built or re-built.

I'm affraid we cannot read too much into the cut road other than at one time it was cut.

By the F4 screen, we can know if Vox has or not Iron. If they have, that mean the road has been rebuilt

              • Gen. Astronicus, how is the military planning going?
Do we still have the invasion plans? I've been at sea for some years now, and soon I'll be back to the army, awaiting orders...

BTW, I am retired in the Monastery of Montserrat for a couple of years, praying for our souls. I only act as Barcelona Governor at the moment.

Several years ago I give the military power to Gen. Dejon, who is serving our fatherland in a corageous way.

Of course, as soon as my soul will feel relieved of all my sins, i'll return to the active life again !!

Señor La Plaga de las Ratas, please, ask your questions to General Dejon in the meanwhile !

                  • Someone should look at the tab, then. If they can't defend themselves, there is little that we can do for them.

                    • We have only one plan underway at the moment: Operation Engineering Payment (OEP).

This plan is actually more foreign affairs than military, as fullfilling it will mean Vox will give us Engineering. We have been building galleys and collecting our units for this task for many turns, and there is still some more turns to wait before we set sail.

There are three boats to OEP. The first contains two horsemen, the second will contain two swordsmen, and the third will contain two pikemen.

When I took over for General Astronicus, I was hopeful that our military spending would continue, but sadly that has not been the case. As a result, I have not been able to increase our defenses, nor muster forces for possible offensive strategies on our own continent.

The future looks bright however, as we finally have Feudalism, and we are building a second barracks.

I will be requesting funds every turn for the next little while for spearmen->pikeman upgrades.

That's a bit sad. When I get the time, I can help you develop new plans and perhaps we can get an offensive force up and going, if we get the public support that is. When I used to work under Astronicus, I was trying to get the Spanish aristocracy to consider the ND a potential threat that we should het rid of. I dunno if there is still hope? Do they also get feudalism now?

                        • Senor Dejon,

The Calamarquists of Toledo wish to assist in any way we can. The barracks we are building is due to be completed in six turns, and shall be the finest in all Spain. We intend to start tempering some iron shortly for Medieval Infantry. The army will grow yet stronger if the Calamarquists can help it.

Yes, with God on our side, with our King, your generalship, and Toledo's iron...Spain shall rule eight eighths of the globe! Ahahahaha!

                          • Time to put this thread back to use.

With the change of the times comes new pressure for the defense of Spain. Gathering Storm has arisen as the winner of the Vox/GS war. ND remains a threat to Spain, but not nearly the threat they used to be. So long as their military remains "average" to ours, we will be able to repell them.

A greater threat exists to our east, Gathering Storm has a much stronger military and at least 6 gallies who can travel faster than our ships. Any expansion into Bob would be to our east -- Barcelona and New Madrid are most at risk, and we have virtually no defenses in our south.

We must reorganize and prepare our defenses to be able to react to a possible amphibious invasion.

                            Please discuss.

                            • Zaragoza's production has been set to Pikemen. We should have one in every 4 turns. That is with the current shieldproduction. If we should increase the shieldproduction from 8 to 10 it would be 1 every 3 turns. that is real massproduction. I want to concentrate on pikemen only for the next 20 turns to come.

I think we have to be prepared for a Polish scenario: Germany and Russia made an agreement and divided it among themselves. That could happen to us too, both Germany and Russia are very close, Germany to the north, Russia to the east. This is also why a good relationship with GS is so important.
