      message to Togas and Ninot:
      Dear Togas and Ninot,

Welcome, new ambassador! I hope our relation will be as amicable as the one with GodKing. I'm not sure exactly how informed you are of what has been said between us, in Gathering Storm it is custom to keep a log of all diplomatic messages, so they don't get lost, nor violated. If you would be missing previous communication, I'm sure I can copy and paste everthing for you. In order to keep this tradition (and to avoid any legal 'poly problems), I want to declare you can quote all my PMs within this game in your forum, please declare the same and I can continue with this fine custom here.

Now, on to the reply of last message (which is why I'm sending this to Togas as well):

There was one misunderstanding in last message, in that GodKing didn't tell us before that you were researching literature, but it seemed an obvious choice for you. I'm glad that indeed, this is the case. I wish you good luck in trading it to other nations, and hope you don't get crossed again.

It pleases us a lot that if everything goes well, we'll be able to trade with you in-game very soon, breaking both Vox's and Lux's middleman position. This certainly makes researching mapmaking less urgent, so for the moment, we probably won't go down that path.

Researching different branches makes a lot of sense, and knowing we could probably get a deal between our two teams if we would go for the most expensive current techs is good, I'm sure that once we'll be able to start, we'll take this into account. There have been rumours of Code of Laws lately, as it is the most expensive tech after writing, and therefore probably has a high trade value. But, nothing definite yet, so I'll keep you informed once we made up our minds.

We have certainly a lot of sympathy towards your diplomatic problems, as we have experienced similar things with Vox ourselves. I can't 100% blame it on a bad attitude towards us, but the least I can say is that Vox has thus far not been very reliable, somewhat ignorant even of possible implications of their actions. As a result of this, we're currently working on what we call a codex, in which we describe what we expect from our diplomatic relations and what others can expect from us. Such diplomatic protocols seem trivial and self-explaining, but at least one team we know does not keep the same standards as we do.

It's pretty obvious stuff, like that diplomatic messages are secret, deals are only deals once they are ratified, and all deals need to be kept, even if the situation changes drastically thus disadvantaging one team. Renegotiations are possible, but unilateral decision of stopping a deal mid-term are not. We are very strict in this, so we can only hope that by enforcing it within our team, others will do the same towards us.

I hope, that by the time true tech negotiations can take place between our nations, you will have enough faith in us that we will never double-cross anyone within this game, or will at least try to the fullest possible extent not to do that. This does ask for precise agreements, of course, and for some formalized way of accepting deals, but those are exactly the points which we're currently perfecting in the Codex.

Also many thanks on your views on the situation on your continent, it helps a lot. Especially the situation with Lux is very interesting, as it is something we wouldn't expect from them. Sure, GoW and Vox are opportunistic by nature, but Lux...

It's certainly a noble goal to try to mediate between ND and Lux, not because either of them would not lose by a war (let them fight if they want to), but because of what it can do to world balance. The Vultures of War are certainly circling the skies already, and they are nasty and ferocious creatures. The world will need a lot of diplomatic effort to secure them into last position

      Kind regards,
      DeepO of Gathering Storm

Thanks Ninot, and nice to meet you.

I'll try to squeeze in some time this evening so that I send you all previous messages between our teams (will be over e-mail, as PM has a length constraint), so that you can get up to date. While we value the informality of contacts, we try to review from time to time what has been said between ourselves and other partners, so that we can be sure we don't miss anything. But in general, yes, our contacts have been pleasant so far, and we hope they will remain this way for a long time to come.

        DeepO

Note: This PM is mostly outside of a diplomatic context. These are my own thoughts, ideas, and such. Thus, I wont be commenting on much of what you sent me in PM previously.

I do declare you may quote me in your forums. It is a simple matter, and I see no reason not to do so.

As for communications of the past, I am not totally up to date, as I have not frequented myself with posts of GS as of late. All I have to go by is that our relations are pleasant, and all parties hope to keep it like this for a great deal of time to come. However, if there are any essentials you feel I should be aware of, feel free to inform me.

Just posted an e-mail to Ninot, with all previous communication between us. I sure hope they are going to keep it at a safe place this time.

I hope it also proofs to them we are taking it serious, it took me 15 minutes of copy-pasting

Thanks Togas, allow me to present this to our team. I think that at least some of it was part of our negotiations with Vox. I'm not sure, and even if I was, my solemn oath would prevent me from telling you too much

            DeepO

              Togas,

no, please leave us some time to discuss it. For none of the items on your list do we need to have an answer immediately, we have researched writing (as you might have noticed), and are going to start towards Republic as said before (CoL). We don't really need any of the techs right now, as they are no prerequisites. And also contact won't change anything if we're one turn later...

If we would be able to agree to a deal, we will offer our side of it asap, so for you there should be much of a delay either.

I hope this is fine for you,
              DeepO

              DeepO,

We can make an offer of any of these things to your team on this turn as we have the save now.

Please let me know if we should send an offer. We can continue negotiating the price later today.

                Ninot,

Sorry to not have gotten back to you before, we have been discussing the situation of contact-boom in our team. I haven't got much time for a detailed reply right now, so allow me to get back to you this evening.

I'm not sure what you mean with 'Spain is offering Math to GS, but are interested in what offer this might be'... we might be interested in acquiring Math from you, but we were discussing if it would be possible to offer it to you. I'm a bit confused... anyway, allow me to post this on the board, and I'll get back to you this evening.

                Cherio,
                DeepO

                DeepO,

The Great Lord Togas has instructed me to inform you that Spain is looking for trade.

As I have been informed, Spain is offering Math to you at an offer. We would like to know what this offer might be, so we may finalize the deal as fast as possible.

We also have contacts with ND and Lux if you are interested.

We have aquired Horseback Riding, but are currently under an agreement not to involve it in a deal ourselves. But this agreement should be ending soon.

                Your friend,
                Ninot
Ambassador of Roleplay to Gathering Storm.

damn... took nearly 2 hours to send this one, but it arrived, I think.

                  My apologies, Ninot,

I was going to get back to you, but both rl issues and the discusions on our board has delayed me quite a bit.

I sent a small note to Togas, to explain that we couldn't be interested in math, as we were acquiring it that turn too, and were hoping to sell it to you instead. But clearly, someone has been paying attention to Togas diplo lessons, as it came the same turn to both nations, without any possibility to trade it.

We were under the impression that you might be interested to trade literature for CoL, it's evenly priced, we will have it very soon, and if we're both the first to receive it, nobody should get a disadvantage in the trade.

We're planning on acquiring philosophy as well, so our next research goal would certainly be the republic. Please keep this in mind when setting your tech plans, you should be able to acquire republic from us before it would be possible for you to research it yourselves. (if, nothing unforeseen prevents us, of course, and unforeseen things have a way of happening in this game)

If you would be interested in this trade, let me know, so we can start negotiate the details of it.

I can understand that upon meeting us, you were eager to sign a deal with us, not only to deprive others from dealing with us (and yes, we seem to be in high demand), but also because most likely the situation on the main continent makes a bit of extra cash more then welcome. If you find yourselves in urgent need of gold due to the crisis, we would be willing to offer you a loan. This offer will stand for as long as we can without compromising our internal security, but details of course have to be discussed, and agreed upon by my team.

As to how GS is doing: I'm not sure... I expect everything to still be very well, still happily building towards a superiority on this continent, but as I wasn't able to view all the board discussion the past few days, I can't say for sure. One thing is certain, the amount of posts has only increased with meeting more people, so many possibilities, so many dangers, a truely exciting world!

                  Kind regards,
                  DeepO of Gathering Storm.

                  DeepO,

How is Gathering Storm? Are there any new exciting tales from your nation? Out here in Roleplay land, we're just looking for things to do. Reading beeing one of them.

We are in the process of researching Literature. And Roleplay is perticularly interested in what Gathering Storm might want to offer in a trade for this technology.

This way of keeping documents could help you keep records of your exciting tales, perhaps to better share with your friends, the Roleplayers .

Also, is there anything Gathering Storm might like to discuss? I think it can only help the excitement of the game if we increase our frequency of chatting, and share more friendly informations. It will create for more detailed stories, at least

Ninot, Good to hear that. We should complete it in a few turns from now (2 or 3, depending of whether we played the turn already).

                    When will you complete literature?

                    DeepO

                    DeepO

We are interested in a deal of our Literature for your Code of Laws.

When do you estimate that you'll complete research of this technology?

Great, Ninot, I'll pass this note on to our players, so they don't forget...

Do you have any plans for future research yet?

                      DeepO

                      DeepO,

We should have Lit within a couple of turns. When you get CoL, offer it to us, and we should be able to respond with our half of the deal by then.

                        Ninot,

I'm sorry for the delay, but as not all our diplomatic contacts were as quick as you to respond to our proposals, we needed to delay the trade one turn. We noticed you discovered literature, and hope you're not waiting anxiously for CoL to build courthouses. Our team considered it wiser to delay the trade, instead of risking upsetting teams on the deminished value of the tech.

I hope you understand, and don't take offense in this delay. If you want to speed the deal up, you could offer us literature in your turn (if it hasn't passed already), but please know that for us it makes no difference, we'll gladly be the ones offering CoL first.

                        DeepO

                          To Togas, probing about Feud.

                          Honorable Togas of RolePlay.

The Gathering Storm's wisemen are currently on a new and advanced technology that would change the warfare is carried out- This technology "Feudalism" will also be for sale to those who wish to purchase it.

We would like to negotiate a price for the tech, so that we both enjoy the benefits of the trade when the tech has been discovered.

If you're interested in acquiring the tech from us, please let me know.

                          Kind Regards
Zeit, Chief Diplomat of the Gathering Storm.

                            Togas' reply:

                            Zeit,

It appears that Ninot (who I had assigned as ambassador) isn't active so I am responding to your trade request.

My nation is interested in this new technology and we are considering buying it from you. We are aware of other nations who are also researching this, and we need to know a general time frame of when you could make this knowledge available to us, and what the cost would be.

                            Please let us know.

                              Price offer to RP:
                              Togas,

Our current ETA of Feudalism is 8 turns- this could possibly change, but will probably not go beyond 10 turns, which is still some time before anyone else has this tech, according to our sources.

Our price tag for all those interested is 200 gold (less than 30% beaker cost) or 12gpt over 20 turns. This trade will include a 7-turn non disclosure agreement, under which you are bound not to trade the tech to anyone else.

However, if you have a tech that the GS might be interested in (Engineering, maybe?) that you would like to trade, a tech-exchange, along with gold to offset the beaker cost differences could be arranged.

Let me know if you're interested in the purchase.

                                From Togas:

                                Zeit,

No good news yet. We can't afford Feudalism and must delay purchasing it until we have the funds.

Currently we are negotiating an unrelated tech sale. If that goes through we should then have the funds.

Please let us know when the technology is available. Perhaps we will have the funds then.
