  • Okay, I know you are right, but we're asking for a favour here. They already have us outmaneuvered, and have to be willing to give that advantage up. Like I said: if I was in that position, I would simply laugh you away if you ask me to move 2 warriors through. No matter how you take it, it is a show of good will from them, so I wouldn't push our luck. We can be diplomatically convincing, but once we start bluffing too much, they will see through it, and simply refuse. After all, the moment they encountered us, those 2 scouts were probably lost to them: they won't care if we destroy them, certainly not if it means we either get into a despotic GA, or lose some more troops.

It is us who really need to get accross, in order to contact the 3rd civ, they have to be willing to give up that advantage.

    • So that's all we ask for???

      We give:
      - free passage to two warriors in our territory
      (=territory map + minimap)
      - The isthmus (and like DeepO has said before, couldn't you english have come up with a different combination of letters for this)

      We get
      - one warrior on their side

      • Yup. That's all I would ask for (BTW, I'm gone in 10 minutes, be back this evening). We are asking that they give up a situation that leaves us blocked on all sides.

Something else: We have all our land scouted, but they don't know that. It would not be good if we were to say: hey, our scouts can't do anything here, we need them on your side pronto.

Other things: they can very well ask to disclose to them if they have met anyone else before granting us passage. For the moment, we should be quiet of course, but what happens if they want to know that fast? Once Grog stepped on that tile, I don't mind telling them that there is nothing to be seen here except us, maybe they retreat their scouts themselves (unlikely, but you never know)

        • Oh, something somewhat related: we will need to block our capital from their view, by moving warriors on any tile that can give a direct view of EotS from outside our territory. They are on a good way to get our territory map, but that is one tile they don't need to see.

          • And before I'm gone: please include a message there, saying it is important they act in their turn, not hindering us in our exploration... after that I agree on whatever the rest agrees to.

            • hmmm,

I would suggest at least asking them to retreat at least one more warrior (security reason?).
And try to go for minimap trade, so grog doesn't have to wander around in circles, but can go straight towards the other team/

              • minimaps: next turn. We might want to start exchanging ours to any team we can put our hands on. I don't care for Vox's minimap, we need the 3rd civ's map so we can meet.

And perhaps we can ask them to retreat 1 warrior, but again, they are in the advantage, and must know it. I think we can only do this after we get Grog through.

                • I'm ready to make and send the turn. Are the diplomats going to send their note soon? I suggest not to put too much attention in words, they won't be appreciated anyway. And the answer will most likely be "we shall discuss this in our team", not the slightest doubt. We can't delay our turns forever.

Do you still want me to wait with the turn? If so, please move on with your diplomatic efforts and don't lose more time.

                  • Would it make sense for me to go ahead and send my post since it's essentially ready (I may want to go ahead and put some finishing touches on it), or do we want to wait for ManicStarSeed and take a bigger risk of the right people not reading the post in time?

                    • Why wait? For all we know, he can't be here the whole week.

They could think we fired him , hmmm, just ads that littlebit of pressure

                      • I suggest to send it now. I doubt MSS would object. And for the choice of words... I doubt that the message will be read very carefully. More effort would be a waste, it's fine as it is.

                          • There's a lot of traffic in the VC private forum, visible in the "Last post" report of the PTW Democracy game.

During a couple of minutes I've seen Eli, BetaHound and Jon Miller there. Apparently they are discussing our offer. Guess it's time to send the turn now, once we know they got it.

                            Objections?

                            • Send the turn, i see no problem. I just hope these Vox accept our terms- but the suggestion Shiber made- settling near the isthmus (see his thread) gave me some optimism.
