I was away this weekend and after reading the results of the vote this morning I specifically resisted the urge to "make my vote count". Doesn't holding out in order to see everyone else's votes sort of make the whole process undemocratic?

How so? You're gonna vote for the civ you want to play, so waiting just increases the dramatic impact of your vote.

DeepO, keep in mind that some of the Egypt supporters also voted for the Iroquois (me, for instance), so that goes both ways. I wouldn't mind being the Iro's, I'd just rather be Egyptian.

Arrian, I'm not really bothered by it either way (like you, I believe both Egyptians and Iroquois to be fine choices), but by voting last your vote does "count more" than the earlier votes (especially with such a small population). If I were the last to vote with Egypt and Iroquois neck in neck, then it would be my vote that decided it, ultimately. Based on less information, I can't be help responsible for more than my share of the vote.

Bah, maybe that's partially right, but not really what I intended with stating it... I consider it more of a dramatic effect

                OK, OK.

I have listened to the arguments for and against. I have played out the Egyptians and the Iroquois.

For a known map I would pick the Iroquois in a heart beat. However, for a random map...

                Egypt
                Iroquois
                America

Correct me if I'm wrong, but does that mean that we have a tie between Egypt and Iroquois?

                    Final standings.

                    Egypt: 24
                    Iroquois: 24
                    Aztecs: 9
                    Persia: 8
                    America: 7
                    China: 6

                    How's that for drama?

On a principle of first place votes as a tie breaker, Egypt would win by a nose.

I don't remember us deciding on THAT as a tiebreaker.

But Egypt will be fine. Too conservative for my tastes, but it will be fine, the traits are solid for any map.

Congrats, you Egyptologists (asleep begrudgingly kicks the sand)

                      Good choice

Remember that this is an order of preference. We may not get #1.

Right, I do think that Legoland was considering Egypt. We don't know what civ the new team will pick either.

edit: I think its legoland;s second choice.

Since the private forums, all teams probably reevaluated their choices.

We could end with 5 teams going for Egypt

When do we reveal this to the world? do we hold onto it for a few more days, closer to the start date?

Hold on as long as possible IMO
