Timbuktu Times

New Kingdom Year 300 1/2 Gold

        Tale of Writing

At the year of 3375, aka. New Kingdom 1 year, the Great Pharaoh Ray King raised to be the new ruler of Mali Kingdom. The new king looked up and down, searched all over the hyperspace, but he could not find any previous written history about his Kingdom. Finally, he consulted with his science advisor, and found that the pathetic Mali people even did not know how to write! The new king took it as a very serious issue, and the order was given: we must discover the myth of Writing! The King said, whoever can discover the secret, the King will share him/her all the treasure of the Kingdom! All the wisest men/women are motivated to focus on this new research direction. But according to the science advisor, it still needed at least another 100 years before we can discover it ourselve. The King was so depressed.

One day, the King stepped up to the tower of his palace, looked through the far end between the sky and desert, he decided to seek help from other nations. According to the Foreign Minister, the Mali had three neighbers: Zulu, Israelite, and Adriatics.

At first, the King met with Zulu King. A peace treaty was easily achieved. But Zulu King didn't want to exchange any technologies with us. Emissaries back from Israelite also brought bad news: Isaelite the Wise also did not know how to write. Well, maybe wise people don't need to write. But our pathetic Mali people needed it. Finally, the Great Paraoh met with Adriatics King. The Adriatics agreed to teach us in exchange our advanced wisedom: trade. So it was done. As their first practics, the Adriatics asked to sell us Literature for 100 gold. And we accepted it.

Finally, the Mali people had their own language, which was composed of Mali Alphabet and Adriatics grammar. On the way back to the Kingdom, the Great Pharaoh told his science Minster an ancient wisdom, Seafaring. It was the first document written in Mali language.

        < The End >

Alright this is a serious post by Il Capo, so let's take a listen...

First thing I wanted to say was that this is a solid group who comes and plays, the two subs we've taken in (Sekong and Prometheus) have been more than a pleasant surprise, and I am glad that we found these clowns.

Drake's been doing an awesome job with our website ( www.geocities.com/history_of_the_world ) and I know that everyone appreciates the work. Obviously we've had a few things going wrong, but that was to be expected, and it was not even as close to ebing as horrible as it could have been. Sun Tzu opted out, and Chris seemingly faded into oblivion; but as I said we picked up two stand-up guys that I am fortunant to play with.

Its Tuesday morning right now, around ten thirty or so, and I wanted to just remind everyone that we pick up where we left off this Thursday, I was wondering if anyone can possibly make it a bit earlier? Say 7:00 Eastern time?

Two other issues I wanted to tackle: (1) Dimbleby on two occasions has asked to play a supplimental session on Saturday or Sunday, for me Sunday would be the best and I wanted to know if anyone could make an extra Sunday session, and if so at what time? (2) Last game one of our players left "early" by only around ten minutes, I just wanted to make sure everyone has their time cleared for at the most a half hour extra P.T. if there is an emergency or a good reason you cannot play then that's good, but I don't think ANYONE in the group wants to hear "I have another game right now bye!" again, thoughts?

As always, thanks for the support, and the Cap's finished.

          Peace.

in all fairness i show up a half hour early and play until the schedualed end...... if this isn't sufficient then If you want to play later say so ahead of time...... and pls dont' post nonsense about my leaving early....... that really irritates me.

As for schedualing games outside of this one..... i NEVER schedual overlap......and i wont start now

1st of all, I think we finished the game just about the right time, last week. Even if War4 did not have another game waiting, we might not be able to play much longer. At least I could not.

Secondly, war4 just lost his grandma recently. Please be nice to him. After all it's just a game. Please show yr understanding. We had a very good start with this game. I enjoyed it because I felt have fun with good friends. I hope we can have such feeling by showing understanding for others. Especially at such bad time.

In all fairness, I agree with war. His departure was not earlier than the agreed upon time. We just started a half hour late due to technical difficulties. Let's just do what we can and get along, otherwise this game will never see it's completion. See yall tommorow night.

Come on War, don't let psychological warfare get to you - it's meant to make you strong, right?

BTW Capo, War IS having a tough time personally at the moment so please lay off. I thought we finished right on the dot of our scheduled time. War did ask to leave earlier but didn't.

I just wanna throw in two more cents here...

Why is everyone telling me to relax? I made a simple statement, and its a true statement. Nobody in this group wants to play second fiddle to another group especially when this game had been planned at least one month in advance. I felt disrespected, personally, when he asked to leave early. That's the way I percieved it, maybe you guys percieved it differently I don't know. I was merely saying that it would be better for the group if you didn't schedule anything the second afterwards in case we need to make up for lost time. That's all, I never mentioned anyone by name and used a specific example because it was something that people could understand.

As far as the other thing goes, War4 has issues that's fine. He has a serious problem and its understandable that he would be upset and irritable due to the problem. However I don't think that the group should have to placate the situation, we've had an example of this before in this group and its unfortunate but its also not something that should ruin the game. Chris had a similar situation come up, and decided to opt out temporarily, which turned out to be perminantly. Maybe War4, if the situation in question is that unbearable, should take a small leave of absence to get his composure back. Even then, I have no problem with playing against/with War4, he's a good player and a stand up guy, I appreciate his time and effort in this game.

                                Peace.
