I've sent my 625BC post to drake...

His site is fantastic so all the action is there.

All diplo games should have a site like that.... maybe Apolyton could sponsor such sites/space. Advertisers may be interested.

Alright, so far the action and politics in this game are very awesome even after only the second session. We had some issues with the Chinese player but they were all cleared up and we are ready to get this thing underway. We have a lot more updates at the site now, including a map courtesy of the Oz-Man, which is going to be pretty cool and may bring back fond memories of the original Civ... ah memories.

Anyway a lot of things are going on and they seem like they are going to heat up even more; Will the border tensions between Mongolia and the Israelies/Adriatics heat up? What will the Mongols do about the new leader Prometheus of the Chinese? With the advent of the Lighthouse will the colonial era kick in? When will the Aussies make first contact? Are the latest agreements between the Adriatics and the Mali a sign of a future partnership, or will the European Protection Act end that in its infancy? All of these questions and more will be asked and answered in the latest updates at the official website of "The History of the World"....

Check us out at www.geocities.com/history_of_the_world/

Thanks to Drake for putting the site up, to all of the players for making this game possible, and thanks to Ozzy for the game map as well as the map up at the site.

Peace.

It's gametime tonight folks, and things are ready to explode!

The Mali have a new leader, what will King Sekong do in the wake of recent events? Will this effect the relationship between the Mali and Adriatics? The Chinese leader "Ai Dum Fuk" has finally abdicated the throne, will the new king Prometheus find it as easy as Ai did to bow before the Mongols, or will the upstart Chinese challenge Mongolian hegemony over Asia? Has the border dispute between the westerners and Mongols subsided, or has it just begun? In which direction will the Zulu fleet head now that the Lighthouse has been erected? These questions and more will be answered tonight!

If you want to get up to speed on the latest and greatest diplomatic posts, visit www.geocities.com/history_of_the_world/ and get your fix of HOTW updates.

Remember people, we play tonight at 8:00 EST (U.S.), everyone try and show up early so we can either (A) Get started, or (B) Usher this new game in as we have a new player, and a new leader of China.

Todady's prospective cast is as follows:

Dimbleby of the "Rockin" Israelies.

Sekong "The New" of the Mali.

War4Ever the "Insane" of the Mongols.

Drake the "Black" of the Zulus.

Deity the "Drunk" of the Aussie Posse.

Pro- "What the hell is he thinking" -metheus of the Chinese.

And of course, Capo the "Well Endowed" of the Adriatic League.

Feel the excitement!

Well thanks! We really appreciate everyone's enthusiasm, and hope that anyone that has yet to take a look at our site does so. We, Drake especially, have worked very hard to make this a reality, so we're all proud of it, and you guys should be too.

Just think of the kinds of diplogames we can have now? We get new people interested in Diplogames every day it seems. Sites like this can serve as not only a good way to get interested, but a good way to learn and really understand what fuels a diplogame.

Not only that but we are adding new things to the site seemingly every week, we have recently added the animated political map as well as the weekly "cast of characters." Who knows what Drake will come up with next?

You didn't hear this from me, but there may be a message board put up soon so you guys can put up suggestions and give your peice of mind to this game, you get your name and thoughts included in the History of the World!

Peace, and thanks, we love you guys!!!!!

Oh yeah, I almost forgot.

If you want to start a diplogame similar to this, Apolyton may eventually hook you up. Check out this excerpt from Mark "Da' Greek":

MarkG: it's really nice, and could consider hosting such a site, but only if this happened for not just one game, but regularly, and if there was one or more people committed into updating it
The Capo: Well this game has seven, and I know for a fact that there's a lot of interest in this type of game
The Capo: I am pretty sure if Apolyton gives its most holy blessing, this can work out, and would add a lot to games, more interest at least to finishing games.
MarkG: well, if a couple of people took the task to create and update a site for diplomacy presenting and providing information for the various games we seriously consider hosting it
The Capo: Okay, I'll let the various douchebags know, have a good day Marky Mark
MarkG: just mark

So who knows, maybe this will be a regular thing one day.

---

625 B.C.

In the centuries that followed, Paul concentrated on building up his towns to become cities. With little space for more cities the Aussies set about irrigating the lands and making babies... Without the tech of Map Making the Aussies only added one new city, that of Perth.

Every effort was made to concentrate on scientific research and around 900BC the concept of creating a Republic dawned on Paul Keating, not for the last time [Aussie joke!]

By 725BC Paul despatched his crown and donned the garment of the toga! He looked most distinguished and the people loved him so much that they dreamt about their great leader and their great nation every night - so much so that the population expanded astronomically...

But, the secret of Map Making still eluded our scientists. The Aussies wanted to sail the high seas but when presented with further research the path of Philosophy was taken and in a northern city called Weipa it was discovered first in the world (which would have to be the most unlikely scenario one could imagine!)

Oil was tapped near Broken Hill and mines setup in readiness to build the Lighthouse Wonder as soon as Map Making arrived but alas we heard on the wind that a mighty empire of Zulus had built this Wonder.

Finally, the Aussies were able to build tri-remes and set forth on voyages of discovery and colonisation. One new city called Bali was established.

deity looks out at the handiwork of Paul Keating who has managed his republic most effectively.

With barren terrain and few cities he has lead the Australian nation to dizzying heights of success.

New Zealand has been settled as has The Philipines.

Our intrepid explorers to the North happened upon a jolly fellow called Warforever. We made peace. He likes Aussies

The ultimate moment arrived in 325BC when Broken Hill, a city where illiteracy is rife, actually builds the Great Library!

But there are mutterings. Our cities have reached maximum size and water is lacking. It is a dry continent and our scientists have much to discover to maintain our momentum. The Zulus and Mongols have many more cities which are expected to explode in a frenzy of partying and passion....

Paul looks to the oceans for other lands.....

A random Mongolian garrison outside of Orsoni passes a small brook, there is a dead European clutching a peice of paper, one of the soldiers picks it up and begins to read...

To whom it may concern.

The time has come to end the impotence of words. They are weak, they do not catch the heart of the royalists, there are no hearts within these men to catch. It is said their blood is blue, this is true, for it is cold as ice. They feel no pain for their fellow man, they are devout as barbarians, they are as benevolent as a savage beast.

It shall begin here, the words of righteousness are not in your newspaper, they are tacked to the walls of the slums, of the ghettos. You will not hear a grand debate in a theatre hall, you will hear the truth in your local pub, at your local football game. Cast a watchful eye upon your royalists, they take your money, and spend it on gold, on food, on clothing and on whores. This decrepid nation will rise out of this horrible position it is in. Enlist now! Join the Europa movement. Free the world from this horrible caste.

Bring this paper to the Kyzykum Hotel in Orsoni, present it to the page within the lobby, he shall make you aware. Be brave, and be watchful.

-N.B.

The soldier looked over the paper, and tossed it to the ground. The garrison continued their march....

Tale of Writing

At the year of 3375, aka. New Kingdom 1 year, the Great Pharaoh Ray King raised to be the new ruler of Mali Kingdom. The new king looked up and down, searched all over the hyperspace, but he could not find any previous written history about his Kingdom. Finally, he consulted with his science advisor, and found that the pathetic Mali people even did not know how to write! The new king took it as a very serious issue, and the order was given: we must discover the myth of Writing! The King said, whoever can discover the secret, the King will share him/her all the treasure of the Kingdom! All the wisest men/women are motivated to focus on this new research direction. But according to the science advisor, it still needed at least another 100 years before we can discover it ourselve. The King was so depressed.

One day, the King stepped up to the tower of his palace, looked through the far end between the sky and desert, he decided to seek help from other nations. According to the Foreign Minister, the Mali had three neighbers: Zulu, Isaelite, and Adriatics.

At first, the King met with Zulu King. A peace treaty was easily achieved. But Zulu King didn't want to exchange any technologies with us. Emissaries back from Isaelite also brought bad news: Isaelite the Wise also did not know how to write. Well, maybe wise people don't need to write. But our pathetic Mali people needed it. Finally, the Great Paraoh met with Adriatics King. The Adriatics agreed to teach us in exchange our advanced wisedom: trade. So it was done. As their first practics, the Adriatics asked to sell us Literature for 100 gold. And we accepted it.

Finally, the Mali people had their own language, which was composed of Mali Alphabet and Adriatics grammar. On the way back to the Kingdom, the Great Pharaoh told his science Minster an ancient wisdom, Seafaring. It was the first document written in Mali language.

< The End >
