  • I have noticed a tightening up of the moderation of Off Topic

In the past, Ming would just close a thread. Now he always seems to include a very direct warning that the thread starter gets restricted if they continue the discussion elsewhere.

Is this a deliberate change in policy or has Ming started to get a bit fed up with us lot?

my £0.02 is that the warning is a little strong, and perhaps un-necessary. Its not like we have any excuse for not knowing the "rules" is it?

You really need to start looking at the other side.

The realy question is "Why have the OT posters started pushing the limits more requiring us to do more moderating?"

    RAH
It's almost as if all his overconfident, absolutist assertions were spoonfed to him by a trusted website or subreddit. Sheeple

Because the OT is a bit tired at the moment. Posters are bored.

We need more bread and circuses.

              Good job ixnay

And Rah summed it up perfectly.

With a possible war on the horizon, and more terror acts in the ME, things have started getting more "personal". Trolling is also becoming more insulting with what seems to be more of an intent to start a flame war, then to poke fun or cause people some discomfort. People no longer seem to be arguing the issues... just insulting each other. So it's time to show that the OTF is not all about trading insults or private little flame wars.

It all goes in cycles... It will eventually lighten up, and things will settle down. But until then...

I do agree that there is a lot of tension at the moment and differences between Euros and Americans seem to get blown out of proportion very quickly. You only have to look at the decision of some US posters to leave CG for FFZ.

*Sigh* perhaps things will calm down eventually.

The specific instance I mention? I don't think so.

Get off your lazy butt next time and look harder. Two threads had been started on that subject already.

So your new troll wasn't needed... somebody had already beat you to it... and it was already old news

You can't expect people to look for things that aren't on page 1.

Your problem... If you want to do silly trolls, look before you do. It's a shame that you're slipping, and got beat to the punch.
