  • Are these mass-migrations to 'poly a good thing ?

I've been here for about three years , and I've been observing these fora for quite a while .

I've noticed that whenever a new civ game or expansion is released , there is this huge influx of newbies to the fora . What I'd like to know is , is this good for poly ? Or is it better with the 'trickle' of registraitons , as in upto 30-50 new members per day . If you check the number of registered members , you'll find that they will go up drastically for the next few months .

Yes, it's a good thing, as long as the hardware can keep up.

Why wouldn't they be a good thing?

They bring in more money for Poly, in the form of ads shown. They help raise the general awareness of Civ games, which is always a good thing.

And maybe, just maybe, some of them will at some point contribute something important to Apolyton.

It's a good thing, as long as they swear to abide by the rules of this site and join with other posters in protecting its culture and ideals.

It's definetly good - while the vast majority of members vanish after a few months, most never making more then a few posts, it generally seems that the better quality ones stick around

It's a good thing. As members leave, new ones must take their place. Besides it would be hard to recycle all the standard arguements if there weren't new people to be trolled.

Why should we force them to follow guidelines we don't follow?

...And what would the mods do if there weren't newbies around requiring the rules to be hammered into them?

Hmmm, actually I spend more time hammering the vets.

let them come, let them come... mingapulco and rahlcatraz are always in need of more "tourists".

it seems like very few of them have found the OT, now we must ask ourselves is that good or bad?

Probably good. The OT is a tough forum to leave.
